Wow... this might actually be pathetic. If they make their entire high-end lineup dual-GPU only, they'd be shooting themselves in the foot.

Then again, once all the dust settles, if you can get the performance of a 5850 for $150 this might not be so bad. :D

... and would make my HD 5830 irrelevant, no matter how good it OCs. :(

Well, I'd like to play Crysis with some AA. Right now I really can't unless I sacrifice some IQ settings... which I don't want to do.

So if I can have the 5850 (performance wise) for the same price I paid for my 5770... I'll likely jump on it. :)

Thought- would nVidia have anything to compete? If the 6850 is mildly slower than the 5850, but costs <$200, that'd really hurt the sales of the GTX460. Wouldn't it? And untill the next die shrink nVidia is sorta' backed into a corner. All they can do is hussle to tweak the current architecture for as much efficiency as possible. And just how much can they tweak it? They did show us back in the G70 days with the 7900GTX... but can they do that again?

Interesting times ahead, for sure. :)
