Geeks3D reports that the NVIDIA GTX 580 is no longer a myth, legend, wife's tale or silly pirate allegory. When, where and what? We'll just have to wait and see. In the meantime, Geeks3D's eagle-eyed finding within a 3D Vision System Requirements list will have to suffice.

Maybe this?

ardOCP]Or it was a cleverly timed leaked to get people thinking about NVIDIA on the day before the 68xx NDA lifts. I suspect some people are ready to pull the trigger on 6870 crossfire setups as soon as they can, now they know a new NVIDIA card is coming soon too

Problem is that a GTX 580 is most likely a $500 card. The 6800 is only the midrange. Next month when they release the high end they will need something to counter with.

I had a 6800 like 6 years ago. It's an old card.

I've heard the 580 is ushering in the return of external power supplies for video cards.
