Just wondering if people with FX cards could dl the demo and give it a whirl. I use default settings with standard aspect ratio and loop through all enviroments @ 1024*768. Hit spacebar while demo is running to see the fps, Im getting average 20-30fps on all but on the night scene, 15-20, just interested how this cg demo runs on newer nvidia cards, im using the 44.65 drivers btw.

Go here to DL it (http://www.idvinc.com/html/downloads_exe.htm)

i get 75-80fps at 1024x768.. but i think its capped by my refresh rate... since i cant turn off vertical sync for d3d

Think you will find its OpenGL ;)

Still 75-80fps is sweet, I would love to play something like Ghost Recon with these type of graphics myself :D

Well,

I ran it at the settings you suggested with my Evga FX5200U w/2.8ns memory on it clocked at 370/750, Performance setting, NoxAA/NoxAF, Vsync Always Off and used Fraps to record the frames in a .txt file. :)

If you would like me to rerun it with AA/AF, please specify the AA/AF settings. :)

If I have done this correctly, there will be an attachment along with my reply. If not, lol... there will be an edit when someone can advise me on what I did wrong. :D

Peace,

:)

God, your FSAA +AF certainly take a hit, what are your system specs?

Malfunction, I dont understand that attachment, I open it with notepad and I get a whole lot of numbers running down the page??

hehe... those numbers are the recorded FPS. It ran twice though the entire cycle: Fall/Spring/Winter/Night

You will notice a really high number right before it begins (Like 100+ fps or higher), then it will begin to look a bit more realistic with numbers staying within the same consistancy for a period of time. That first number of consistancy is the begining of the numbers you will combine for an average fps.

Example: The numbers on that .txt file the first sets of numbers are the loading screen and wathever it does before it runs the first demo (Spring). The recording of Spring's FPS doesn't begin until the line that says "159" (which is the end of the loading screen for Spring Demo) followed by "26," "1," and then "12." At the line that says "23" to the last line that says "18" are the numbers for you to find out the average.

I provided the .txt because it is time consuming to do...lol, although you can find your avg. FPS on anything using Fraps. :)

I will do the first one for you: Spring

There are 59 entries from "23" to "18"

The total of those 59 entries is: 1239

1239/59 = 21 FPS average for Spring :)

I ran it twice which is why you will see the low numbers during the Night Demo Run twice. This was to ensure some sort of consistancy as I ran it right after I installed it. Unsure if the partition being fragmented a bit would have made any difference but I am thorough... hehe. ;)

Get a copy of Fraps at http://www.fraps.com

Peace,

:)

I have fraps ;) but my text logs read different, that why I asked.

an eg. of a fraps log for is;

2003-07-08 12:18:36 - RavenShield
Frames: 5288 - Time: 83828ms - Avg: 63.081 - Min: 32 - Max: 86

I was expecting something like that :p I'll run the same as you with fraps enabled and see what I get :)

SH64 all I can say is  lets hope thats a driver problem, or that you were running @ 1600*1200 :)

i'm using the MSI 44.03 drivers cuz i couldent find big dieffrence between them & the Nvidia 44.03 drivers

when turning AA 4x & AF 8x i got 20-30 fps daytime missions .
sounds good to me :)

It currently runs only on a GeForce3 or better hardware as part of an agreement with NVIDIA.*

* While this particular demo does require NVIDIA-specific hardware, there is nothing in the SpeedTree product line that is tied to any specific graphics hardware.

Scared it might run better on ATi hardware? ;)

Nice find! Most impressive are the smoke and fire effects, in my opinion. Sadly, the grasses look a bit 'synthetic', and the creek border in the winter environment is plain awful. Runs about 40FPS on GFFX5800Ultra / 2GHz Athlon w2XAA-4XAF.

Yes that sounds great :D

I tried 2xFSAA, but was getting very bad texture flashing, namely shadows.

Anyways after running fraps
