Chinese site we.pcinlife.com has posted what appear to be photos of NVIDIA's upcoming GTX 580 (http://translate.google.com/translate?js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&sl=zh-CN&tl=en&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwe.pcinlife.com%2Fthread-1540808-1-1.html).

With 12 memory chips and a 6 pin + 8 pin PCI-E power connector setup, the images look fairly convincing. Might this be the 384-bit Fermi 512?

Looks like they abandoned the heatpipe and exposed grille cooler on the GTX 480 and went for more of a GTX 470 style cooler. But since there's really no chance of having moved to a smaller process, what else could they have done to improve the thermal profile of the GF100, especially if they keep it at a full 512 shaders for this one?

Is 580 a modified version of Fermi or a new core?

Might have to pull the trigger on two of these depending on how much faster than the 480 they are :D

@ Vin

They are Fermi based (not a new core).

I just hope they can make a better card regardless of what it is next, hopefully they were able to improve the thermals.

At least there are no woodscrews in it, and they're not saying it's coming out next month.

there is now news on the GTX580 power consumption?
