for showing me that there can be a graphics card site that doesn't include inane blabber in 99% of the posts. I was, for a long time, an ATI junkie. I own an 8500 and I love it. I was dead set on buying a 9700 as soon as they went on presale. I had the mind set that ATI "rulez" and Nvidia is crap.
No longer.
I've been a member at Rage3D for several months now. At first I thought I'd found a decent site that could answer my questions and I could debate with openminded individuals who were older than 7 years of age. Apparently I was mistaken. There you get flamed into the dirt for even mentioning Nvidia. People take your posts out of context to justify thier own points (crude ones at that). I don't see any of that here. Why is that? Do the people posting for certain cards reflect said cards potential for performance?
I believe for a certain degree they do, and if those people are are the type that buy ATI products, then call me an "Nvidiot" :D
I found the coments/responses on this site to much more openminded and thought out. Forget the 9700. I'm now waiting for the NV30 before making a choice on video cards. Heck. I'm even thinking on swapping out my 8500 for a GF4 TI series.
This isn't a post against ATI products. I think ATI has many very good cards. Will I ever buy one again? Maybe. I'd just like to say sorry to all the Nvidia product owners I may have flamed in the past for their card preference (If I have at all).

Well we try to make this place a flame-free zone, and keep open minds, but as you can see by some ppl here, no place is perfect...enjoy your stay!
Same here. BTW welcome to the best site on the WWW :D
Its a good thing you'r not being a fanboy instead you are making smart choices on the gpu you buy.
This site is probably second only to slashdot. It is close to about garbage free and some of the articles are fairly good and accurate.
Welcome to the forums marqmajere
There are good members and info to be found at Rage3D forums. Unfortunately the mindless comments the zealous fanboys put up have to be sorted through. Not to mention those egotistically know-it-all's like Doomie and Hellie who stomp around like they own the place.

Welcome to the boards... I dont consider myself a fanboy. I just buy what performs best for me... be it ATI or Nvidia. And I find that Rage3d people are... well, they foam at the mouth a little too much for my tastes.

I hate when Rage3d trashes on Nvnews members. Some of them think we're these rabid nvidia fans who have no respect for ati, which is completly wrong. After making about 3,000 posts here before the hack, I can honsetly say this place has a low amount of bias, and the mods do a good job on keeping flame wars down. At Rage3d, people seem happy to see nvidia fail at anything, and some just completely dismiss their products. I can honestly say I haven't seen that here from frequent posters.
Rage3d is an interesting board, and contains some good information, but the slandering they sometimes do of Nvnews and its members is uncalled for. A few of those guys should take a look at their rabid ati bias and just chill out.
Too much childish behaviour. I bet if all the members of both boards met up they certainly won't be making fun. I bet Gib and Saturn will make them think twice about making fun of Nvnews members :D

I think Gib could destroy them using only the power of his mind... or a tutu. :p
As for fanboys, they are one of the lowest forms of life. I'm not an nVidia fanboy, I'm not an ATI fanboy, I've owned both, and both have treated me amazingly well (considering all the crap people spew about one or the other). Same with Intel and AMD. I've owned one AMD chip, a BUNCH of Intel chips, and when I buy my next box, it comes down to price/performance and upgradability--in other words, how good the stuff ACTUALLY IS!
None of this brand loyalty crap. :p

I agree completely. I originally owned a P2 450, then went to an AMD Thundbird, then jumped back to Intel. With videocards, I did TNT, Geforce DDR, Geforce 3, and just when I thought I was becoming to loyal to nvidia, I bought a Radeon 9700. Fanboys are truly frustrating because they are so friggin blind.
