Well I just added the second EVGA gtx 470 to my system and GPU-Z is reporting that the cards are running in 16x and 8x mode. My motherboard has 3 16x slots.
The latest version of gpu-z (4.8) states one card is running in pci-e mode 1.1 @8x and one running at pci-e 2.0 in 16x mode. An older version shows both running @ pci-e 2.0 16x and 8x mode. Is there a better tool to look at this information? I do want both cards running at 16x speeds.

Everest shows the cards running in PCI-E 2.0 but one card is in 16x mode and one is in 8x mode.

Crap I think I figured it out, looks like to get 16x and 16x on (2) cards you need to use slot 1 and 3. I am using slots 1 and 2. If I use slot 3 I lose my pci slot and cant you my sound blaster X-fi card. CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!!!!

Get a PCIe X-Fi Titanium if you must have a soundcard and 16x/16x video card connectivity.

Thanks Spyke I have that card on my list. I am going to try the onboard for a couple of days. The onboard sound is a Realtek chip that does EAX 5.0 in hardware and uses the creative labs software. Its called a X-fi 2 MB. So far it does not sound to bad and it is hardware driven not software. Both gtx 470 cards are in 16x mode now and I do think it is much smoother now. I did not like 16x and 8x. Thanks again!
