2010 is drawing to a close. Let's check out what good new MMOs in 2010?

Legendary Champions
Legendary Champions is an oriental themed MMORPG that combines DotA style PvP with traditional MMORPG gameplay. Players create a character, do quests, level up, explore the game world, and take part in all the usual gameplay elements. PvP options include a 5v5 DotA style match-up where players take on the role of Beowulf, King Arthur, Dracula, or one of the other 60 champions available. The game also supports PvP battlegrounds and open world PvP. Legendary Champions isnít just a player vs player game, there are plenty of instanced dungeons and raids for groups and guilds to conquer.

Final Fantasy XIV
Final Fantasy XIV, also known as Final Fantasy XIV Online, is the fourteenth installment in the Final Fantasy series, released in September 2010. More than just a sequel to Final Fantasy XI, this is a whole new game with a very different approach to online gaming. Playing on your own is now just as rewarding as battling in groups and your character's progression and growth is achieved by using and refining your existing skills, rather than just earning general experience points. Likewise you can change jobs simply by taking up a different weapon or item, from sword to blacksmith's hammer, although specialising in the game's four disciplines (war, magic, land and hand) will always give you an advantage. The end result is a more accessible and varied experience than any other online game and the most exciting Final Fantasy yet.

Battle of the Immortals
Battle of the Immortals is an action MMORPG that blends Norse mythology with a Qin Dynasty era Chinese game world. The game has many staple features such as pets, mounts, PvP combat, and an auto-navigate system but also has plenty of new innovations. Among these is the Soul Gear system in which equipment gains experience and grows with use. Additionally, the Zodiac System grants characters special powers at certain times depending on their characterís selected birthday.

Dynasty Warriors Online
Dynasty Warriors Online is the MMORPG version of the famous hack-and-slash console series. Like many Asian MMORPGs, DWO is set in the Three Kingdoms period, but this time players can jump straight into the action. Dynasty Warriors Online has fast-paced combat where players will be striking down hordes of enemies with every swing. Each weapon type has different stats, such as reach, power, and speed. Players must decide which weapons to use and upgrade. There is a ton of PvE and PvP content in the game, but like the console versions, battles themselves are instanced. Up to twenty-four users can take part in a battle, and each team must work together to capture bases and kill as many enemies as possible.
Dynasty Warriors Online is a 3D fantasy MMORPG set in medieval China. Players can take part in massive battles that contain both fast-paced, live-action, tactical gameplay. Battle for control of China during the Three Kingdoms period! Take part in epic, large-scale, instanced battles in DWO!

Iris Online
Iris is a MMORPG blending medieval fantasy element and Gypsy ethnic group style. It offers dungeon and PVP gameplay In Iris, there are three races available for selection, Human, Orc and Elf. Another selling point of Iris is Tarot Card originated from the Middle Age Italy. There are totally 78 cards. 22 are Major Arcana and 56 are Minor Arcana. Using these cards, players can enhance skills, transform into monsters, etc. They can even attach Tarot cards on their weapons to gain special abilities.

There hasn't been a major MMO release that was worth a damn in a few years.

There are a few older MMO's that are good, EQ2, Eve Online. But, the best MMO right now (IMHO), is WoW, especially with all the latest changes to the old world, making it like a whole new game. Also, the expansion is due next Tuesday.

It will break records....

I am very easy to please with games but FFXIV was a steaming pile of pig crap. I lasted all of 30 minutes in the open BETA. When it weas launched people were screaming how horrible it was. I think this game was created by Stalin to torture stupid people.

I just finished a testing session with SW:TOR. Obviously, I can't talk about it, but I will say it sucked me in and I can't wait to play on release!

I am still confused... is the old republic by bioware a diabloish style multiplayer, or do you gotta pay monthlies?

Saddly the "best new MMOs of 2010" is alot like 2009, 2008, ect. Wow still top of the heep.. new expansion means new kick ass stuff to do. Meanwhile everyone else is still learning that you can't do **** without 2 years of beta work and a full compliment of features.

Although 2010 has the best outlook... imo FF14 looks the part and just needs to be fixed to be a big winner. Also guild wars 2 is looking hotter then ever.

If anything..2010 is the year for FREE mmo players.

I'm suprised LOTRO has a new expansion coming out since it went F2P (I haven't logged on in ages.). I don't know if FF14 can recover from such a bad launch.

winton, well its f2p, but it has parts of it that you still need to pay for. Also adding a new dungeon dosn't take a large amount of resources. eq1 still does expansions and it is %100 floated by old subscribers, as the game has made no attempts at revamping itself for new blood.

I guess I'm not too familiar with whats free. I'm not worried since I'm a lifetime subscriber. I haven't felt the urge to play since switching to Aion though. I just wonder if it'll be around long enough to have the story finish. In some respects I think having the LOTR tag hurts the play mechanics. There was no true "mage class" in the original game. They added in an expansion the rune keeper and LOTR fans were all up in arms.

If they want to make the game fun they should consider having world pvp free for all. Then I would play. Heck I'd play as a monster race and PWN all those annoying hobbits.... its a bit too casual in its current state for my taste I guess.

Sorry for being OT.
