Gonna start writing occasionally in this thread to help out the people out there. Debates/criticism are always welcome. I thought it would be good to keep this separate from the BFBC2 thread...
I will be talking mostly about Rush, non-hardcore gametype, because this is what I play, but a lot of the strategies work in hardcore.

I play each game to win the game. Not to pad my stats or piss off another player.
It is important to understand that very many mcons can be taken out simply by using any explosives and/or vehicle fired shells. Unless teams are completely unbalanced (relatively even), there is no reason why the attackers should not take the first 2 mcons in Arica Harbor, Nelson Bay, and to an extent, Port Valdez and Laguna presa with vehicles. Focus on the objective. With so much stuff going on, it is very easy to get sidetracked.

Equally as important, defenders have to realize what the attackers are trying to do, and try to neutralize them. Hundreds of times, I see few soldiers pounding a mcon-building with 40mm grenades or Gustavs, slowly bringing it down, and the defense are doing nothing to stop them. Same on Arica harbor, first checkpoint. If you see your mcons are taking fire, do something about it. It is very important, imo, to bring at least one of the defenses' tanks outside the first base walls in Arica and put some fire on the enemy's tanks.

Spot, spot, spot. Oh, and remember to spot. Press "Q" to spot enemies. This creates a huge advantage for the team that spots the opponents, not to mention giving you relatively "cheap" points for spotting the player if they are killed soon after. Spot everything.

Knifing is very glitchy in this game, and quite often, if you knife registers, it is just luck.
Sprinting tends to make your knife more glitchy. Don't sprint + knife. Also, if you keep your cursor on the opponent for longer, you make the "stab", which takes longer but is more reliable imo, and if you flick the cursor onto the opponent quickly, you will do the "slash" which is faster but less accurate. The recon class is the "glitchiest" to knife, i think.

Get used to the various subtle sounds in the game. The planting of C4 on the side of the tank you are in, the shouting of enemy soldiers (which give away their position), the beeping of the motion mine.

Motion mine will only show you if you are moving. If you are just shooting, or motionless, or rotating in the same spot, it will not show you. When I hear an enemy motion mine, i either freeze and wait for it to turn off, or charge full speed so the enemy can't prepare themselves to defend. i freeze if where i am, i am not completely exposed. Of course in some bottlenecks, the enemy just spams motion mines, so you cant do anything about it.

Also, when you're using an LMG. Use BURST FIRE. Just tap your mouse and fire 2-3 round bursts. The accuracy remains high and you can easily pick people off across the map. My favorite is the MG36 because the accuracy is good and the tiny red dot is extremely precise.

If you spawn quickly into the game, some maps have great opening spawn rush routes for offense, and even though they seem very simple, they work for me MUCH more often than not. I would say a good 75-95% success rate. It is important to do this quickly. Literally every second you waste is another enemy spawning, and probably spotting you for his team mates.

Isla Innocentes: Sprint down to the docks, hop on sea-doo. Go around the island on the left side, and you should be able to climb up into the spawn of opponents (its possible you need speed perk for this, not confirmed yet), or you could go all the way around and get on the island closer to the bomb site. Usually you catch people with their pants down :bleh:

Port Valdez: Take the ATV down the left side, and either make a beeline for the mcon or to the building-foundations at the back. You should be able to kill lots of snipers or people in the mounted weapons.

Atacama Desert: Take the ATV around either side, but I prefer right side. You can usually take out the guy in the VADS, and make your way into one of the 2-story houses, and commence rape.

Valparaiso: This is a very hard one. What I do is drive the ATV down the general middle of the map, drive it overtop of the roof of the house in front of enemy spawn, and ram it into the mcon station closer to the right. You can either plant mcon, or just shoot at the enemies in the spawn from the window in the house you are in. This one is hard to do, and I only get it maybe ~25% of the time, but if you can do it, it is very helpful obviously.

*Again, spawning fast is crucial. Sometimes, I am already in the opponent's spawn and they have many players who have not spawned yet. I am still not sure what determines how fast you spawn. Connection speed? Maybe hardware?....

Yes, 2 or 3 3-shot bursts take people down very quickly, not to mention if you use magnum ammo. MG36 is my fav LMG.

I prefer body armor over magnum ammo. It buys me enough time to get one or two more bursts out, which usually takes people down.

rule #1: do NEVER turn your back on bob.

Yep. The best is when a Gustaver shoots me in the body at point blank, he goes flying off into oblivion and i am left with 1 or 0% health :D

for me, it depends on the map. for lots of close quarters fights i want body armor, but when i can hide out and snipe noobs from a particular position i like the magnum ammo.

i prefer body armor when turning my back on bob. a full suit of armor.

Bearclaws #1 Rule:

DON'T BE A ****ING "HERO" AND TRY TO ****ING SNIPER THE WHOLE ****ING GAME AND SAVE THE ****ING TEAM.

A) You ****ing suck as sniper. You're simply not good. Don't think you are. You're a ****ing noob that (when able) uses mortars ever ****ing 2 minutes.

B) If your team HAS to have a sniper, limit to 2, hell, ONE good sniper can be successful for a team.

C) If I see you ****ing sniping people I will ****ing raep you.

if you come up to a stationary enemy tank and you only have mines, place them beside the tank and shoot at the mines.

You can make any jokes you want but truth is, sniping gets a team the loss. I just played a game where 8 guys were sniping. End of game? 0 points/nothing accomplished. All i'm trying to say.

Aww man, I was all hyped to play this game... but I'm getting the impression it's a more "serious" and "competitive" game. :(

I just wanna' frag people and have fun. Don't care about scores. :(

Its not competitive, its just there is a huge jump, in ability, from people that just started to the people that have had this game for months, even then, there people that have played hundreds of hours and still suck balls, because they are morons, which is why I made this thread :) Its definitely very fun, very dynamic MP game, kindda like TF2 in that there are special classes with unique abilities. Kindda rock/paper/scissors type of deal.

This... I feel like I'm the only person ever spotting on my team. I'm constantly spotting people. It makes it much easier to kill people because you can still see them when they are running through bushes and what not.

Also @ Bearclaw.. sniping is great if you're good at it. I've sat on the other side of the map and picked off 3-4 people who were trying to disarm a point before. I agree that when your whole team is snipers it sucks, but a team with 2-4 really good snipers can dominate.

I always use magnum ammo. I don't care about the body armor perk as I just aim for the head and the head alone, and I expect everyone else to be doing the same to me. If you have armor on or not it doesn't matter, it doesn't take more than a couple shots to the head to kill someone.

@ Redeemed this game is probably more serious than say COD because it takes teamwork to win. You can still be extremely useful to the team if you just frag a lot of their guys. If you can get behind the enemy lines and wait until someone sets a charge you can come out from the woodwork and kill most everyone trying to defuse it before they realize you're behind them.

Tried some of the SP a bit, feels like it's trying to be CoD sort of. Fun, but it definitely lives up to this pic Meth posted...

See, I understand and don't mind the teamwork thing... but that's what Coop games like L4D/L4D2 are for me. In this- I just wanna' kill stuff.

Guess only way to find out is give it a try. If it's anything like the MW/MW2 MP then it may not be for me. Still need to try it though, never know till I do. Who knows, maybe I'll fit right in going around fraggin' peeps. :D
