Reading about these sandy bridge processor's, are these 1366 lga compatible or do I have to upgrade to a new mobo?

I currently have a x58 board and honestly, I'd like to keep it as long as I can, I'm running your typical i7 920 and half the games I play barely take advantage of all 4 cores, I know there's a uber expensive 6-core i7, I believe the 980x? But I was wondering if:

A.) The Sandy Bridge cpu's require a new mobo
B.) If Intel will continue to support LGA 1366 boards with new cpu's through 2011?

Thanks in advance.

My guess you might see 1 more 6 core for the platform if you're lucky, but it's probably EOL. Sandy bridge will require a new board, also it's the successor to socket 1156, NOT 1366.

So then what is the proper successor to LGA1366, and is there any word on an eta for it?

Q1 2011 is for 1155 sandy bridge, Q3 2011 is for 2011 socket sandy bridge, or as you called it LGA 1366 successor.

Great, as Q4 is when I'll likely over haul my rig. Perfect timing. :D

Hopefully the i7 I'm getting will still be pretty dominant for at least a year...

Just make sure it's not a 920. If you can't overclock it you'll be sorry!
