The given translation was:
ATI's next silicon creation, the Radeon 9900 pro, appears in September 2003 together with Half-Life 2. This announces the GameStar in its current expenditure, which appears on 6 August. After GameStar searches diagram map manufacturers plan to bundle their Radeon 9900pro plates in the USA with the 3D-Shooter Half-Life 2. Its momentarily valid gold date (time of the completion) is 13 September 2003, which contradicts the extension of deadline speculations of the last days. Besides this moves the "errors with Nvidia maps" - discussion into a new light, because a strategic partnership behind the technical problems probably is to not insignificant parts. Further details to the Radeon 9900 pro and Half-Life 2 read you in the GameStar 09/2003.
Perhaps if there's anyone speaking German out there, a confirmation of meaning would be nice.
I wonder how this will effect sales? I also wonder when the HL2 benchmark will be out and what kind of impact it will have?
Interesting possible development. Hopefully this hasn't already been posted.

Well, truthfully, i dont feel its a 'big' deal unless you get HL2 before you can buy it 'if' you buy a 9900pro. if that is the case, im gettin a new videa card!!!!!
But i think it will be a big incentive for people who are looking for a new video card, and havent bought hl2.
I really can't see valve letting the game out earlier than the official release date. I could see it happening on the very same day though.

hahah yes.. very possible. Although there is supposed to be multiplayer out of the box with HL2 so there will be the whole key thing going on. They'd steal themselves a mighty single player game tho :) Not that i condone that of course :)
I'm really hoping this turns out to be true as i've already told everyone a million times... the release date 30th sept is my b'day. I can't think of a better present than a 9900 with HL2 :)

actually its a good idea to include HL2 early with that card to boost sales. however the game will not be returnable, also you get $70 less. Meaning you must keep the game, or else alot of people will be disapointed when they share the same key with several people

Hm, as good as it sounds, when people return stuff, you CANNOT put it back on the shelf. The only accpetion is if you label it as 'returned' and 'as is' manufacuters warrenty void. CD keys woudlnt be shared, they would just get tossed in the garbage.

The translation keeps the meaning, so that's okay. In the original message the meaning about the deal was, that NV may have been cheated by Valve on purpose, allthoug it was of course not said in this way, but u could read it between the lines.
However, Gamestar has not been the best source for reliable 3d Hardware Info, they even quoted the NV40 is 350 mio transistors rumour a while back.
They are a pretty good game mag, but have no real competence about hardware.

Thanx egdups.
Thats pretty LMAO about the 350 mil transistors. That would be one big hot expensive chip.

if they do this, it's likely going to be a demo of HL2 that's bundled, not the full game.

A demo dose seem more likely, it really dose make me mad, most video cards claim they come with a ton of games then in small print its *these are all crappy demo's*
What they should do is when you buy a retail video card, it comes with a catalog of games they have, and you get like, 2 free ones. SO you pick what 2 games you dont have and want to try, fill out an online form and then they mail it out.

Old elsa (in the times they still sold NV cards) had such a program. However the games they offered weren't first class. They were solid middle calls games with an average age of 6-12 months.
That seems to be the probelm there. They can't get such good deals when there are some games to choose from, because they simply don't sell the same number.
I would still like a deal, like getting up to 4 top notch games for 10$ each. Maybe only playable on this card.

I hope that is only with the ATI deal cause if not it will be long time before I play HL2.

my friend says HL2 is gonna be delayed for 3 months or so, can anyone confirm this? $70 for that game? well it may be $70 the first month for those who have money and dont wanna wait then itll drop to $50 and stay there for a while then slowly drop more as other games come in the spotlight

Do none of you read the thread?
He says that the refund would be the refund minus $70 to prevent people from buying the card, copying HL2, and returning it. Basically, a way to keep people from being stupid.
And HL2 is not delayed.

my feeling was true, I knew it would be delayed, actually most games get delayed too. If HL2 has been delayed, itll be either the demo or maybe a beta release thatll bundle with the 9900 pros

So far I've heard:
HL2 will be released Sept 31.
HL2 will be gold Sept 13th and will be bundled with the 9900
HL2 will be gold August 17th for Quakeconwhatever
HL2 will be releasing a benchmark before a demo or the game is released. (In otherwords, SOON! :D )
All I know is when it's spotted anywhere I plan to know about it..... ;)
The Baron

Nobody's officially said that it won't come out Sept. 31. And they know that they said it would be ready now and everyone expects it, so they might rush it slightly to get it out by Sept. 31.
Heh.
It's only been in production, what, FIVE YEARS.
btw.. there is only 30 days in September ;)

Well, i know what the Retail stores have herd from vivendity or whatever.
Vivendity told all of the retail stores, eg best buy, gamestop, circuit city compusa that HL2 will be shipping 10/20/03.
That is where the HL2 rumor is delayed with no explination came from.
Again, i do feel that valve is unaware that their own game has been delayed!
