Due to the smaller size of the 9600's GPU does anyone know if the Zlaman Heatpipe Cooler ZM80-HP will fit ok? I know it will most likley mount fine but due to the die's small size im wondering if it might case issues.

That is a good ?. :)

Will the cooler fit the 13nm FX cards?
If so it should fit the 9600.

Actually, i belve the ZM80 is too big for the 9600's

but zalman has a smaller version for the smaller cards the zm50.

i belive Sapphire ships their 9600 pro the ones with the heatpipes iwth a modafied zm50 (there are many revisions), it is chrome color and has a sapphire logo on it.

- NVIDIA GeForce2 MX, GeForce4 MX or slower chipset
- ATI Radeon 7000, 7200, 7500 or slower chipset

Thats for the ZM50 - Obviously its meant for the quite slower cards such as the MX etc - i guess it could cool a 9600pro though but its not mentioned.

Nor does it mention anything about the size of the core on the site for the ZM80 - the only stipulation is the position of the holes. As long as the plate makes contact with it im sure it will be fine... id like to confirm it though as i have already ordered it and id rather not start assembly to find out its not going to work. :/ Think ill email Zalman.

Scrub that just checked zalmans web-board and found a thread asking the exact same thing i was. The peep from Zalman said.

ZM80A-HP is compatible with ATI (All In Wonder) Radeon 9500, 9600, 9700, 9800 (Pro). Especially, additional fan cooling ('FB165' only or adding a fan to the BR123 bracket of 'FB123') is needed for more stability of R9800 Pro only.

also

Symmetric equilibrium should be kept while the front side heatsink of ZM80A-HP is being installed on the small FC-BGA packaged VPU which doesn't have the protective frame on the substrate as the case of Sapphitetech Radeon 9600 Pro.

Works great on the 9500 Pro.

OK, the ZM-80C fits the 9800 Pro. A good article outlining installation with good pics can be found here (its for the 80A but same install steps): http://www.ocia.net/reviews/zalmanvga/zalmanvga.shtml

Hey bkswaney I notice your 9800pro is overclocked. The zalman site says that for the 9800pro you will require some kind of active cooling near the Zalman Heatsink for stable/proper operation.

You also have yours overclocked so keep that in mind – u might want to invest in a Zalman FP123 Bracket (880/92/120mm Fan Bracket) so u can keep it cool. All the reviews i read say that if your overclocking look elsewhere... :type:

Have you guys ever considerd what i 'may' do.

Buy the swiftech gpu block and then buy their blue 80mm radiator, and their inlinepump/bleed and the power thingey. then use that, its pritty cheep and effective.

but dont try to cool much more stuff (maybe your northbridge) cuz the small radiator cant handle too much stuff.

A fan is recommended for the 9800Pro and should definitely be included for the 5900U.

You can install a fan by several means but the Zalman setup for the 'C' model looks the neatest. Their fan bracket (for the 'A' model) just helped the clutter inside my case so I took it out. A good 92mm in the side panel/window does very well and if heat is still a problem just install a 120MM. :D. The bigger fans offer another plus by being a lot easier on the hearing than those small high pitched units on the HSFs.

Installation of a fan also benefits cooling of the ram not just the GPU if you overclock.

Hi all. Got my little parcel today. Good news the peeps at overclockers sent me a ZA80A-HP :D.

First of all i must say its easy to install, but tricky in places where ure required to have 3 hands and 25 fingers to hold, apply paste and screw things in at the same time lol. Looks good when ur done though.

Anyhow i managed to get some nice overclockage going on. Take a look http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=6850658 :D

I can relate to the need for extra fingers and hands getting everything lined up and installed. I agree that it is neat looking once its all together although massive!...and it does perform. ;) I might try one of the 'C' models on the FX5900U later. Just like the idea of a big (but silent) 92mm fan cooling the sink while blowing air across the ram.
