So a friend of mine just recently upgraded his computer to be able to play newer generation games somewhat decently. We've been play L4D(1/2) and a bit of Magicka. What else would you suggest? He's not the deathmatch type, really so we're looking for games that have 2-4 player content. We've also played through Borderlands.

Any other ideas? Would be nice if it was on steam but open for suggestions.

Regarding Dead Rising 2, Coop doesn't work over LAN.

This friend lives far away in Canada so LAN's not a possibility anyhow.

Gears of War is a lot of fun in co-op too.

Magicka is pretty fun in coop, kinda challenging aswell.
Itīs on steam, has a demo (that does not have coop though) and its pretty cheap.

(EDIT: ah.. you were already playing it.. reading fail)

Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is on Steam and has some separate coop maps.
Itīs pretty well done, you got a bunch of coop exclusive moves and stuff, but itīs not that many maps in there.
But itīs slow and kinda punishing when you fail.

Me and my mate are about to play through the HL2 episodes in co-op using the Synergy Mod. I'll report back when we've tried it, but the the prospect of co-op HL2 is exciting :D

Itīs pretty fun, the vehicle parts can be a bit buggy (pun most def intended).
Server seems kinda crash prone, running it through a dedicated server seemed a bit more stable, and ping gets more stable as the client running server tends to dip in fps and that will destroy the ping for the other clients, which doesnt happen on dedicated.

Gears of War is old, so you may be able to pick it up cheap, and it has some pretty good Co-Op.

Civ5 is fun in coop but it takes FOREVER to finish a game.
