I really was going to get a Xoom until I saw the price at Best Buy. $1199 for a tablet is insane. I can put together a much much faster computer for that same price. They say it is just a suggested retail price but it does put people like me off to see a nice product so high in price.

Its a placeholder price http://www.engadget.com/2011/02/13/motorola-xoom-up-for-pre-order-at-best-buy-for-1-199/

Btw i'd wait for the samsung galaxy tab 10.1, its thinner and lighter than the xoom.

Thinner and lighter doesn't mean anything to me. Samsung has crappy software.

It's running the same frigging software and samsung >> Motorola when it comes to hardware and build quality.

I think Captn meant he doesn't like the frontend that Samsung uses as interface to Android's OS.

Unless it gets down to an iPad price or lower, then I won't even look at it.

My experience is that Samsung's software is a mess.

I did come across this comparison of Xoom Vs. Samsung 10.1. I would like to get my hands on both of them.

Yes touchwiz does suck, but there isn't any of that on these honeycomb tablets, they're all running googles honeycomb os with no manufacturers addons, its all google.
The only differentiation between them now is basically the design since the hardware is basically identical.

Really? That's good to know.

Roadhog is right though $800 for a tablet is far to much. I guess I'll just be playing with them at the store instead of getting one, till they come down in prices.

Would you really use that much space? My Droid has 16GB of space and I only use half. That with MP3s, a movie and a bunch of pics on it. The base model iPad would be fine with me.
