LOL... get rid of Gator
yes, Lavasoft AdAware does the job quite nicely
Hehe Gator, don't take it personally. The title of this thread must have made you think twice :D
There's only one thing I hate more than spyware: POP-UP WINDOWS!! What program is the best to get rid of those?

you asked the right question!!! Try POW!
http://www.analogx.com/contents/download/network/pow.htm
its the best one i've seen. It doesnt mess with your registry like other ones do, instead it installs a SMALL program using very little memory, and places an icon in the system tray. When you see a popup ad, click the POW icon and select from a list of browser windows which one is annoying you. Then click done, it closes the window and you'll never see that ad again! And if you click the wrong thing accidently, its just as easy to correct! It's only 200K in size, and best of all it's FREE!

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I don't want to kill any useful pop-ups.
And thanks for the txt-file [Corporal Dan]!
']Ad aware makes all your probs go away
I have Ad aware and it still hasn't gotten rid of Gator. When I go to my add/remove programs GAIN is still there and when I try to remove it I get a windows error that says "Could not load the resource dll. Please make sure Gator is installed Correctly." Do you have any suggestions :(
try spybot - search and destroy.. it'll probably ask you to reboot, and have it start first thing on bootup.
and don't click on anything to install crap.
I remember the when I got gator installed on my computer.. I let a girl use my computer to check her email... and in the background, I hear something like one of those dumb e-cards or something.. i walk back over, and I could tell she did something wierd cause the look on her face plainly said, "ehh, i clicked some extra buttons and ran something wierd, but I guess I didn't do any harm"
and what do you know.. Gator was installed.

I downloaded spybot but it won't get rid of Gator still. When I click yes to start on on bootup to get rid of it.....I power off my computer and reboot and it still won't startup on bootup..
I thought this thread looked familiar, it was first started 3 years ago! I see Gator is still around.
Try rebooting in safe mode and running Spybot that way.
If that doesn't work you may need to boot from something other than your harddrive (like a Windows PE CD, or a bootable USB flash drive).
Heres the nitty gritty of deleting the files and removing the registry entries manually:

Thanks anyways I knew I could do that I just wasn't able to find them under the registry....................I used spybot to find the files and I just follow the file path and deleted it manually...thanks anyways
