How can I get rid of GATOR?? That stupid thing that pops up advertisement from your taskbar! I hate it! I must have installed it without properly reading the small print of some program. Help me get rid of it, because I'm maaad
I can't seem to find any reference to GATOR in my startup, msconfig or installed applications.

i hear ya. i am weary of doing the "fast installation" with software that is known for including spyware though.
Ad Aware is a util that everyone should have on their "essential utilities" CD.

I hate spyware with a passion:mad: for some reason I had gator installed on the computer, I think it had something to do with my brother ¬.¬
no its down to divx 5!! the standard download package contains adware (including gator) just dont use the standard download suggestion, use the other free one on the divx site... :)

yea Adware is inching its way up to the top of my list of most essential utils, I love it. The only downside is that I let it break some of my p2p proggies like morpheus, grokster and even flashget. Guess I'll pay a 'lil more attention next time b4 removing all those reg keys :D

I absolutely swear by Ad-Aware. No computer system today should be without it. I think it would even be worth paying for, but Lavasoft is nice enough to give us almost complete functionality for free. :)

ditto :)
im lovin it!
For anyone using software which demands the presence of a CyDoor DLL (i.e. Grokster, Kazaa, etc.) and doesn't include the dummy DLL in the installation package (Kazaa Lite), you can go ahead with the Ad-Aware removal of the real spyware, then place the dummy CD_CLINT.DLL file from CEXX Labs (http://www.cexx.org/dummies.htm) where the program expects to find it (in the case of FastTrack clients, in the main program directory).
Anyone curious about CyDoor's operation can visit this link (http://www.cexx.org/cydoor.htm).
(me sniffles) Doesn't anyone love me anymore? Sniff Sniff
LOL... get rid of Gator
yes, Lavasoft AdAware does the job quite nicely
