"I've just come across some new nVidia drivers for Windows 2000/XP version 45.23 dated 28th of July 2003. This is a generic multilanguage release and it's the latest driver currently available. It even supports yet to be announced Geforce FX5200SE, 5600SE & 5900SE cards. The advanced compression ensures the driver file is only a 8.10MB download."

I know if I download these drivers, in about 5 days Nvidia will release new official ones. It happens everytime I decide to download leaked drivers. So now the question is....do I or don't I? lol.... eh, what the hell, nothing else to do. downloading!...

Just realized these drivers are fully WHQL'ed (date of whql - 5th of August 2003)

A regression in 45.20 and 45.23, ATI Chimp demo and Dogs screensaver which runs just fine with 44.90 now crashes with a nice BSOD on FX5200. Someone at the Nvidia D3D driver team please be reading this.

:( :o

Just tried the Dogs screensaver worked ok for me with 45.23 drivers.

Another bug, this has been like this for a long time. This is ATI's Treasure Chest demo, and as you can see, it's not rendering the PS1.1 effect right at all on FX5200.

This driver works ok with me... will this get a sticky?

Can anyone check to see if any cheats are removed?

This set looks to be one that NVidia will release to the public soon, in my opinion

So far It works O.k.. Too early to say it is steady and everything runs smooth. Just run 3dMark03 and noticed a little increase .
Graphics smoothness and detail are kinda washed out and not as fine detailed as the 44.71 WHQL driver. Those are just initial observations.

UT2003 works like a charm :)

Looks like everyone at the guru3d boards are going crazy over these drivers. They're saying they have the best IQ of any release since the 44.xx's.

Could this be the release with the fixed trilinear filtering?

Has anybody installed these? How do they compare to the 45.20s? I had games run really slow on me with that release.

the 45.20's were workstation drivers IIRC. They prolly didn't have any game optimizations (or cheats if you wanna be naive) in them.

I concur completely. I also noticed that there is an Application tab in AF in these drivers that users have been asking for.

These are the very best FX drivers I have used by far...

I have the 45.20s working on my laptop (GeForce4 MX 440-based) and they have been one of the best sets of drivers I have ever used, for any NVIDIA card I've owned. OpenGL performance/quality is outstanding and D3D is great as well. Looks like I'll have to give these new ones a try. Performance isn't really an issue on my laptop, but I like to get the highest image quality and best stability possible. The 45.20s have delivered on all fronts, considering how antiquated the architecture of my card is.

Do you think that the blocky graphics could be caused by a lack of trilinear filtering?

I don't think so, sounds like buggy drivers to me. Do you get this problem with other driver revisions?

Bottom line: These drivers are some of the slowest so far, but AF works properly in this version, unlike the last four versions. FX5800, Athlon 2100.

Some bench comparisons:

3dMark 2003 Patch330
4965 (v44.67)
4953 (v44.71)
4945 (v44.65)
4944 (v44.90)
4931 (v45.20)
4899 (v45.23) <- new driver
4264 (v44.03)

3dMark 2001se
12662 (v44.67)
12616 (v44.90)
12549 (v44.65)
12516 (v44.71)
12399 (v45.20)
12151 (v45.23) <- new driver
12??? (v44.03)

UT2003 1024x768 default bench
FB: 162.7 BM: 54.4 (v44.03)
FB: 161.2 BM: 53.7 (v45.20)
FB: 159.4 BM: 53.5 (v44.65)
FB: 159.2 BM: 53.4 (v44.90)
FB: 159.1 BM: 53.4 (v45.20, new MB BIOS, 5% slower mem)
FB: 158.8 BM: 53.5 (v44.71)
FB: 153.3 BM: 52.7 (v45.23) <- new driver

Note that I used a new MB Bios which reduced raw memory performance by up to 5% from v45.20 on. UT Botmatch is a heavily memory and CPU dependant game, you can see the effect of the bios change, but overall, scores would not be influenced greatly.

Use getright, and select search for mirror. It found 3 new URL's for these drives, one of which I used and worked fine. :)

Ok, what "fixed trilinear filtering" are you talking about? I noticed that you posted a bunch of Quake3 screenshots showing trilinear vs bilinear. For what purpose? Since when was trilinear filtering broken
