That's like saying: I don't know anyone who would want to keep their Tbird 1GHz

Get back to the topic please.

Get back to the topic please. Keeping something outdated is different than buying something outdated.

It's a matter of perspective. I have some friends who would find a 1Ghz rig to be an absolutely state-o-the-art gamer.

How about us folks who aren't gamers at all? I just bought a few IBM 300GLs that have PIII 1GHz, beefed up the video cards, added more RAM and gave em to my grandsons.

Total cost = $100 each and they run XP like champs !!

...or for people who want cheap file servers or web servers or something like that?

That's kind of what I was thinking too. An old P160 with a Voodoo3 can make a 3 year old awful damned happy! (I like fixing up old rigs and giving 'em to friends kids, it's a hobby. :) )
