It's 1 year old and we just got it today. How do we train him not to piss and crap all over the house?

Can anyone give me toilet advice?

Thanks

I would get him a crate ( or cage ) get one small engough so he can lay down but if he messes he has to stand in it.

I mean dont have him in there all day long but just when he might have to go and put him in there for abit and he might start want to hold it and tell you he has to go.

you could stick his nose in it i have seen that work ok.

also when he it outside and he does go praise him and maybe say something when he is doing his thing. for my do it is "hurry up" so when you do want him to go just i just say "hurry up"
and she starts to go.

Best way I've found is to keep some newspaper down in an area for them to use and if they don't use the paper stick their nose in their mess and give 'em a gentle swat on the butt or nose while saying "NO!" in a firm voice.

I don't know about a year old though...most of my pups are toilet trained before they're a couple of 3-4 months generally. Hopefully an older puppy will pick up on it a little quicker.

What kind of puppy? Why did ya get? Do you love him/her to pieces yet?!?!? (I'm a big animal person. ;) )

Do not paper train the dog as that teaches the dog it is still ok to go in the house. The cage/kennel suggestion is the most correct on the thread, but rubbing teir nose in an accident is wrong as this is not an effective technique. Praise is the most effective. I am a breeder, so I have a fair amount of experience in this area.

If you think a ****zu is cute, mate that thing with a bulldog. Then, you'd have a bull****. LOL Sorry, I couldn't resist. ;)
