Ever since Intel bought McAfee, people came up with rumors about Intel planning to introduce a hardware-based antivirus. Well, that's incorrect. David DeWalt, Chief Executive Officer of McAfee said: "Weâ??re not embedding anything into the silicon. What weâ??re doing is utilizing features that exist today with the technologies McAfee has to secure the stack in a way thatâ??s never been done before."
"I want to be clear, this isnâ??t about embedding something in silicon. We canâ??t do that. In fact, I would argue that embedding security into silicon has already been done. The siliconâ??s already shipping all over the world today, in production. What people donâ??t realize is Intelâ??s already innovated security capabilities into the hardware. Thatâ??s already shipping. Intel has antitheft built into their technologies today." in an interview with Forbes (http://blogs.forbes.com/andygreenberg/2011/04/22/qa-mcafee-ceo-breaks-down-intels-7-7-billion-buyout/).
