if you use mods like ORBX FSX like like the last pic, but with dx11 you can do amazing things

but im afraid this gonna be a console game this time

Yeah, MS notified everyone they were doing a new Flight game not long ago. Check out the website here: http://www.microsoft.com/games/flight/

Several pics and videos. The bad thing is it appears this will not be out until next year. :( They are apparently very early in the development stage.

I doubt very seriously this will be a console game. It would have to be dumbed down so much it would be a radically different game. Besides, MS Flight Simulator was/is used a LOT in flight training. There is a whole industry that has sprung up around it. How do I know? I have a pilots license. MS is not going to tick a LOT of people off by releasing a game meant for the Xbox but will also run on the PC. They are changing the name and integrating it with GFWL. That's it as far as is known.

At this point, MS appears to be doing experimentation to try and figure out how to use all the system's processing power. Instead of doing pretty much everything on CPU as FSX was, they appear to be putting as much on the graphics card as possible in terms of not only graphics (FSX used way to many DirectDraw calls) but letting the GPU draw the 3d c!ckpit displays as well. In addition, it appears they will be using Directcompute to do some things. Hopefully, MS will offload some of the simulation's physics from the CPU and put it on the GPU.

Graphics quality wise, things appear to comming along pretty good. I thought the graphics were pretty good in FSX although SP2 and the DX10 preview mode gave us some glitches. Ultimately, what MS gives us in MS Flight will be just icing on the cake. I am more interested in what else they are going to do with MS Flight. I hope they beef up the communications system substantially, include better tutorials while also providing glass c!ckpit instruction, and allow us to file both VFR & instrument flight plans. They also need to continue work on making the world come alive in a realistic manner. All the planes, cars, boats, airport traffic, etc. in FSX was fantastic. Improve on it.

Just my 2 cents... :)

I don't think that's even possible is it? I mean a console has what, 8 buttons?

Interesting to see the changes. It's when you get down near the ground that things get ugly however, that's where I want to see improvements.

Bingo!! I think somebody gets it.

In all seriousness, I suppose they could cut some things out and then implement some sort of a menu system like what is found in Operation Flashpoint. There are just so many options in that "game" I just have a hard time believing it will happen. Throw in the fact it is a simulator that will bring a console to its knees, it ain't happening folks. At least not in the traditional flight sim sense.

I suppose MS could dumb it down far enough and just make it mission based for the Xbox version...

The 360 version would come bundled with a whole yoke and buttons setup controller :p

Or using the Kinect you just flap your arms...

They'll probably do some overpriced console flight sim package that comes with some kind of Xbox360 compatible flight stick/yoke that will break 5 months after you buy it because it's a piece of junk.

All of the images are default scenery, there is no Orbx add on scenery shown.

It's also been stated to be a PC exclusive with integrated add on store.

Q and A on MS Flight from PC Pilot Mag.....

Q1: Has Microsoft Flight been designed completely from the ground up or does it include elements from FSX?

A1: Microsoft.....we're building from the ground up focusing on the "purist" simmer as well as a larger range of people with varied interests in aviation....we will take advantage of the expertise and existing elements of the existing FS code base and architecture where it fits...

Q2: You mentioned a 'New Performance Attitude'. Can you elaborate?

A2: Microsoft......previous approach to performance was to maintain a long life over a five-year period (time enough for simmers to go thru two or more computers). This approach was seen as a benefit, until now. The side affect was that no PC could run it with the settings maxed out at product introduction. The new goal is to provide a fantastic experience "out of the box" on the first day......on your current computer.

Q3: Will Microsoft Flight include multi-player mode?

A3: Microsoft.....Absolutely....we will enhance both the individual and social aspects of Flight. The existing multi-player mode was great for some players, but confusing and frustrating for others. We continue to look for support from organizations and communities who provide enjoyment to many, as well as Microsoft adding more value to a broader flier base.

Q4: Will there be an opportunity for third-parties to produce products for Microsoft Flight?

A4: Microsoft...we are creating the tools and facilities to enable external content to all users.....we recognize we can't do it all!!! At the heart of the new approach is a new integrated marketplace....and we are not ready to reveal the full details on this new concept yet. The basic idea is to make the entire user base more aware of all the third party applications as only a small percentage of the total user base are currently aware of all these add-ons. The goal is to empower the entire user base to pick and choose from this vast number of products available to them.

Sounds like some good stuff!

Yeah Flight sounds much better now compared to the earliest info they put out a long time ago.
I was also afraid that it'll just be a casual/console version of their flight sim products.

But the latest news sound great, seems like a worth successor to FSX :)

QFT. Sounds a LOT better than what they were originally trying to pitch.
