Is the text you are going to read in 3D?... If the answer is no then it will look normal.

use another word instead of "lates" ,It doesn't mean what you think it does.

I say get both your choice of 3D TV etc and a comp monitor. If you can afford a 3d TV and a GTX 590...u can spare a few for a decent sized 20-24" comp monitor.

Dont fret, dont worry just go and buy it.

Either way, you can connect both to your computer and also connect the 3DTV to a console, DVD player or blu ray player.

For reviews of 3D TVs by brand...google reviews.

A 24" mon wont cost you much. They are as cheap as peanuts.

Dont worry about text on HD TV, they will be clear.

One thing, if you want to do 3D gaming on 3D TV...with 3D vision, you can forget that. (hardware limitations)

Watching 3D movies with 3Dplay....you also have to buy that software I think from NVIDIA or a module/unlock from Cyberlink (powerDVD guys)

GOOGLE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND!!!

Here's a whole list of reviews for Sony TV's go and search for 3D Tvs there

http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/?filter=1000036_3808675_&tag=bc

PS getting a huge ass 3D TV only a 1-2 feet from you is probably a bad idea...

For clear text you have to look for three things:

Does the TV have a defeatable contrast correction?
Does the TV support 1:1 pixel scaling?
Does the TV do 4:4:4 chroma subsampling?

If the above 3 are true, your TV will display text and graphics as sharp and clear as any PC monitor. Doesn't matter what brand. Sadly even the most well known brands don't always meet this criteria. I owned a really inexpensive westinghouse TV that did the above and was a great HTPC monitor.

I currently own a 46" Samsung UN46C6300 that does all of the above but only in HDMI port 1, and it's a great PC monitor, and is in fact my dedicated PC monitor (I'm using it to type this.)

Sorry I meant sharpness correction where I said contrast correction. Anywho, the manufacturer rarely lists whether or not it does any of these things, mainly because most consumers never ask. I wouldn't count on Sony TV's meeting this criteria though. Some of these things you have to find out for yourself, and you can do that by asking these questions on HTPC enthusiast forums, like avsforum.com, where people who actually own these sets have personally tested them for the things I mentioned above.

Frankly if I was in the market for a 3D tv (which I'm not, mainly because I really don't think the technology has matured yet) I wouldn't really count on most sets being any good for doubling as a PC monitor.

BTW, I won't consider 3D tech to be matured until there are circular (as opposed to linear) polarized passive displays, with full 1920x1080 resolution (NOT 1920x540 like many passive displays do) which also includes the three criteria I mentioned above.

Honestly I hate active 3D with a passion. I don't like the idea of wearing big heavy glasses which have to be aimed at an IR sensor that is susceptible to people walking in front of it and forcing you to have to wait for a resync, not to mention having to worry about draining the batteries. Passive 3D is the way to go, but again, only once it has matured.
