Sweet.

Duke Nuke'm 4 launches with 3d Vision enhancements, and Alice Madness Returns launches with PhysX enhancements.

NVIDIA continues to deliver immersion enhancing features to their customers in the summer of 2011. GPU physics and 3d optimization for competing products still MIA for competing products.

It's the follow up to American McGee's Alice. (Yes, Alice in Wonderland). It was a decent platform/action game with fantastic art direction.

Just 3D Vision? Or is 3D Vision Surround included in that as well? I'm already getting the Balls of Steel edition, but this would just be icing on the cake if it was 3DVS ready out of the box without needing to edit ini files for triple wide resolutions, and if the HUD was centered.

Considering Dukes old graphics, 3D would certainly help it stay more graphically interesting.

Loved the old Alice. Hope the sequel is just as crazy. :)

With this whole physx thing...
I ve used physx with just my single 460. Mafia 2 ran great with it, so did batman AA. Metro 2033 only costs a few frames and cyrostasis runs about the same speed.

:afraid:

I like PhysX and NVIDIA as much as the next guy, but personally I'd add something like a 9800GTX to that 460 to run some PhysX.

PhysX adds a lot to the immersion, but those effects don't come free on mid-range cards IMO.

Bah!

Physx may be a gimmick, but every time a game comes out that uses it I'm glad I have it. I've been looking forward to Alice for a long time, and the differences with Physx on and off in that game are pretty dramatic.

rollo, if you have the cpu, the 460 GTX (not to be confused with the new gimp line) cards can run even the newest games at a really good clip if you stay away from the AA, so you can afford to click on hardware physx.

I liked the original Alice a lot as well. Gaming needs more games like that. Cracked up when the old gnome shook his head sadly and told Alice, "I smoke too much...."

Of course PhysX doesn't come with free performance but it's down to the card you have and the person to balance that out. Batman AA with a GTX460 is more than good enough on normal PhysX setting, I even have 16xQ AA on.

I apparently stand corrected!

First rollo, or viral marketing account dude, how many mid range cards have you been using? Ever? I have thousands of hours on this card.

For metro 2033, i use ultra high dx11, no aa, 4xaf, no vysnc, no advanced dof, physx and 1280x960.
Batman AA, 1600x1200, max, 4x aa.
Cryostasis is up and down physx on and off, usually around 35-45 dx10 maxed. 1600x1200
Mafia 2 Maxed, no aa, 4xaf, medium physix/sometimes high physx. 1600x1200

See post above yours, that was there a week before you posted this. Welcome to last week, Encino Man.

I've played Batman AA and a few others with PhysX. It's cool, but imo scripted physics can be just as good. This whole "immersion" term is a marketing gimmick.

Nice to see PC games getting extra features, though.
