i dont think theres a need for that in games now, those chess peices look like ray tracing i saw before graphics accellerators game along

haha good ole povray. I remember downloading that.. in my smoking hot mosaic browser. Was kinda slow on my 486sx, but it supported my video 7 chipset!

Not that I ever DID anything with it.. I just told it to render the sample files. ^^

PovRay still is the reference for Ray Tracing.
Not much has changed in 20 years in ray tracing. Algorithms are still the same and as such, the renders also are the same. It still have some advantages on the triangle renders used for current 3D and a lot of down sides.

It's all done on CPU for example...
