R4xx to be "Hundreds of Millions of Transistors" - 4:26 am EST - ben6
Rick Bergman, ATI's VP of Desktops presented at the Pacific Crest Securities Investors Conference Forum. Some highlights
1. 9600 is shipping in volume with no yield issues.
2. R4xx will be the next generation chip next year and have hundreds of millions of transistors on .13um
3. Integrated will be important going forward in desktop segment

I liked the bit where they were talking about pushing the R350 to the value segment too soon, MAN do they need that!!!! :D

Lemme correct meself quickly here, I think they said "R3xx" and not R350 into the bargain segment...but y'know what I meant I think. ;)
Could you see it if the 9600 became their LOW-END card?!?!? :D

they have an R350 low-end part....the 9800se, but it performs like ****, cause it only has 4 pipelines (i dont know whether that is physical, or 4 are disabled) and a 128bit bus (again, may be locked). plus it costs just as much as a 9800 non-pro at newegg :rolleyes:
