Dets 45.24 out on Nvidias FTP under Quadro-certified.

Get the more compressed version (6.1mb) from Guru3d
HERE! (http://download.guru3d.com/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=655)

Taken from Guru3d:
"This driver set originates from NVIDIA themselves. All NVIDIA graphics cards are supported, the files within the archive are dated August 5 2003 which makes the the latest set available.

Included is a setup.exe for easy installation. We also re-archived this release to save file-size, which we brought back towards 6 MB!

I'm not sure yet if it is WHQL certified."

I haven't done any framerate benchmarks with these yet, but I'm sure most of you are curious if these new drivers solved the Quality/Trilinear filtering 'problem' that past drivers since 44.03 have contained. Also, these aren't WHQL certified (At least, not for Geforce 4 Ti cards).

System:
Athlon XP 1800+ @ 1.83Ghz
Abit AT7-MAX
512MB PC2700 @ CL2
Geforce 4 Ti4600 @ Stock

UT2003 @ 1152x864 (Images compressed into .JPG/800x600)
No AA / No AF
Max Details

High Performance Mode:

Quality Mode:

Looks like they haven't quite solved this problem yet. ;)

They seem nice, although i have to test alot more to see if there are any bugs. But i have a semi-good feeling. Hope they fix the UT2003 trilinear, + get a better attitude towards us users, like ATI has.

Are you really joke on that? Now Nvidia fixed trilinear filtering in Detonator 45.24, it was broken in 45.23, Nvidia worked on it like a magic. Actually ATI's attitude is worst than Nvidia, you hadnt got a clue that ATI had problems with NWN for over a year now and NOLF 2 got textures broken in previous catalyst drivers and still in the next current latest driver ATI didnt worked to fixed it like Nvidia did from driver 45.23 to 45.24.

Now Nvidia had done a great job on the latest driver. :D

Too bad nVidia still hasn't released an OFFICIAL driver to it's customers. All of these "fixed" drivers are leaked and unofficial. In my book, for customers not willing to experiment, they are still DOA with the current 44.03 drivers. I found holes in the rest of your comments, but will refrain from comment.

downloading them now...I bet they're not much different than the 44.65 I'm using.

I don't know about that...I can't prove it one way or the other.

They are very different from 44.65 IQ-wise. I have gone back and forth between drivers from 44.65 to 45.23 recently, and have found that from the 44.90 and up the IQ is much much better with less jaggies. I stuck at 44.90 up until the 45.23 came, and was happy with those. Didnt like the 45.20s that much. Some games would have a strange pulsing stutter.

I ran Elite Force 2, Unreal 2: The Awakening and UT2003 with Detonator 45.23, trilinearing filtering is broked and now with 45.24 it fixed with these 3 games.

I don't mean to sound like a pain, but how can you prove that? Because I wouldn't know how to.

In 45.23, when you moving you will see the textures disappeared on and off at the same places. In 45.24, the textures are stayed at the same places just like 45.20. I ran it with 4xS FSAA, 8xAF and Quality settings.

besides your eyes, is there any tool that can prove that it works or doesn't work?

They look colorful....it doesn't tell me much.

EDIT:maybe if you did some highlighting on there saying what's wrong with it I'd understand.

The colors don't blend properly into each other. Notice how each color band stops abruptly and then instantly goes into the next color.

The mip-levels should be more gradual, as in this picture (From Quake 3 Arena):

The only tool to prove it work is to compare detonator driver 45.23 and 45.24, I dont think here are any tool other than detonator to prove it work.

the problem with ut2003 trilinear were only on FX cards i believe. You used a gf4. Furthermore the difference between the quality modes(performance, quality) is not the same on gf4 as on FX cards.

On gf4 cards AFAIK the difference is just in the mipmap LOD. On FX cards the difference is on the amount texel blended between mipmaps and mipmap LOD.

About your shots , they look quite as they should

Look at my High Performance Shot vs. the Quality shot.

They're virtually identical.

You sure you couldn't just turn on the colored mip-maps and check? ;) (BTW-The UT2k3 scores are identical on the 45.23 set and the 45.24 set... )

yes i see that. That's what i tried to explain in my above post.

Because you used a gf4 on which the difference is only the mipmap LOD. You can see that difference if you look closely.

If you wanna prove that trilinear is (still)flawed on the gf4 with this driver then maybe you should compare it to an older driver of which you know everything worked fine

I cant find colored mip-maps in UT2003 option and in UT2003.ini file, what the line I need to enabled colored mip-maps? UT2003 run on max settings.
