Fortress 2 as a complete free game, in what Valve describes as "the most ambitious update in the history of Team Fortress 2”.
Develop has been given exclusive access to speak to game’s longstanding patriarch, Robin Walker, to discuss the move in detail.

LOL there's a group on Steam who are complaining about this. Probably because they just bought it, and now it's free.

I don't like that it's free, but supposedly people who have bought it get a lot of perks that the free game doesn't have.

Making the game free to play + micro-transactions = $$$$$$$$

Very smart move! Valve knows what they're doing.

More people will be playing the game, thus more people will be buying hats and weapons and packs.

Ip addresses are easily changed.

From what I read valve only blocks user IDs, they never ban by IP. Servers can ban by IP but they only ban on the server, not globally.

As for the news, Meh. I stopped enjoying the game when they started making all these stupid changes. I liked it when they first released the game but now its too punishing to people who don't play it too often.

Yep, I uninstalled it around the same time they started adding hats.

I still play TF2 because I'm been playing Team Fortress since...well, before Half-Life came out.

I loved Team Fortress Classic, and when they shut the World Opponent Network down and began using Steam, I couldn't play for a long time. For some reason, my store-bought copy of Half-Life CD Key would not work, and after a month of trying to get Valve to help me, they finally told me to stop bothering and just buy another copy. That really pissed me off, so I didn't play TFC anymore. It was dead by the time I started playing any games over Steam.

My brother bought me the Orange Box on my birthday years later, and I started playing TF2. I'[ve never cared about hats or any of the other stuff, but I do like updates that bring new weapons. It keeps the game fresh and interesting. After this latest update, I've been using Demoman a LOT more, and not even using any guns. I'll charge this way, that way, and kill people with just my sword and shield. Until they REALLY screw the game up, I'll be playing it, and reminiscing about the good ol' days.

Never really got into TF2, the cartoony graphics were the biggest put off for me as well as the weapons.
