500/1000 and a $300 price tag ?
We will see....

The thing I find interesting is on the roadmap, you can see NV40 in the 2nd half of 03, and the NV45 in the fist half of 04. So much for slowing down the progress of GPUs. The nice thing to see though was the NV40 is going to be both AGP and PCI-Express

With those memory specs, looks like NV36 has a 128bit bus after all.
And...I thought NV36 was launching in the middle of October, not September

i'm 100% sure that there would be 3 versions of the GPU one would be 256bit (memory controller) the other two would be 128bit for mass production.

what about NV38?...i don't see it here,i know it's just respin of NV35, but shouldn't it be somewhere on that road map?

nv30=nv36? :confused:
Well, that stuff doesn't surprise me too much. There were some rumors of a 500/1000 NV36 a few days ago.
The NV36 controller seems to support DDR, GDDR2 and GDDR3. The NV35 controller supports DDR and GDDR2, just like the NV38's one since they're supposed to be very identical.
Maybe there'll be a NV36 with a 256-bit, maybe not. We'll see. But if so, I doubt the memory will be clocked amazingly high.

as i said i'm sure of a 256bit part which would have something like 325-350mhz.

well i just type the first thing in mind ;)
P.S as i said befor i'm still sure that a part with 256bit bus would be out.

So pci express -> agp adapters are going to stop after nv40?
They'll stop when there's a big enough market for PCI Express cards.
I assume the "5200SE" is the NV34B (inc PCI-Ex bridge).

NV36X.... weird.
I think it's safe to say 500MHz core 1GHz 128bit GDDR2/3? If it's cheaper then DDR2, 4x1 and a price tag of about $250.
MuFu: Hmm, maybe. NV34B is rather unclear though. I'd guess it's PCI-Express compatible and done on 0.14u - the idea of using 0.14u probably being to get the necessary cost saving to be able to put it in an even lower market segment.
Hopefully, that is...

I hear "5700SE"... :D

Doesn't make sense... but I guess it means we won't see NV4x-based mainstream products for a while.
Interesting.

Yep.
Although maybe the 5700-SE would be released at the same time as the NV36-X - because you'd need to have sufficent yields to put it in lower-end markets ( and if it's roughly the same chip as the NV36, makes sense they'd have improved yields... )

yea, maybe its the nv38 that got cancled and not the nv36 which I did a thread on that got locked too :(
"The nice thing to see though was the NV40 is going to be both AGP and PCI-Express"
that is rumored, but likley. what is meant by pci express to agp adaptor? will that mean I can get a new mobo and still run my agp ti4200 in it?
theres no point making 1GHz 128 bit ram, 500MHz of 256 bit is most likley quite a bit cheaper

Probably not, once you factor in chip yields (=>$/working die) and PCB costs. Don't forget that there's likely a lot of fast GDDR-2 stockpiled from when NV30 bombed.

the nv38 cancelled? this is the first i've heard of that, and quite suprising, considerring it's expected 2week announcement date!
i guess we should remember that this pic is from a MSI conference, not an Nvidia conference.
also, Nvidia asked for web sites to remove that picture. . . given the reported internal bedlem concerning the nv36 (ask Uttar), it's my opinion that this timechart is not complete/accurate.
flame me if yah want, i dont have hard facts, but i'm only trying to use common sense here, i jsut doesnt make sense to remove the nv38.
final thought: if this graph is accurate, AND the nv38 was in planning up until this point, it's possible that the nv38 will actually be the ultra version of the nv36! with comparable specs (500mhz clock w/ 256bit busses), and close [speculative] release dates of within a month of each other, this may have merit.
:flame: let the flaming commence ! :flame:
