I was absolutely disgusted after reading the thread at Rage3D referenced on our front page. I would like to sincerely thank both Filburt and mavis for being decent human beings. Being intelligent adults, they were able to maintain their beliefs ( ATI over Nvidia ) and recognize that no website deserves such a malicious and senseless hack-attack.

Despite our differences in opinion over a graphics card, I still respect any website that puts forth the time and effort to construct a solid and objective website. For the most part, I respect everyone at Rage3D for the work they have done and continue to do. In turn, I hope that we have earned their respect as we have constantly strived to remain objective.

Being a website based upon a specific vendor, you have to expect a few things. When "our" product does well, you have to expect us to make that fact known. When a new product is coming out, we will make sure that all the information is known by all. Lastly, if we feel as though our card has an advantage we will strive to exploit it. At no time does any of this involve "flaming" ATI or their products. If there is a legitimate problem, we will address it. However, we take great pains to avoid "convenient speculation". Focusing on rumors and such does nothing but blemish the trust we have with our readers.

It is a sad day when we see people wish such senseless misfortune on others for the sole reason that they use a different graphics card. I would be ashamed to be a part of this site if such ignorant posts were allowed to be made. Thankfully, our efforts to keep the forums clean and respectful have not permitted such garbage to be published.

For those who agree with Filburt and mavis, I thank you for recognizing the ignorance of this attack. I look forward to our benchmark wars and such and I hope you enjoy every bit ofgaming with your ATI card. For everyone else...nevermind...its not worth taking the time...

Old news, friend.

Check out Envynews forums.

Mavis and a few others are diamonds in the rough that is Rage3d.

The lack of respect, maturity, and integrity in those forums have all but guaranteed my permanent absence from there. Even AN ADMIN was talking **** about us. An incompetent one, at that. He banned himself from his own forums...

I will never respect Rage3d again. There is little reason to.

hmm... I wouldn't be so quick to judge, Corporal Dan. James never 'talked ****' about nvnews in that thread, as a matter of fact he expressed disgust at some of the immature comments, the same as I did:

Some of the responses in this thread have made me sick.

No site EVER deserves to be hacked, EVER. Its an invasion or privacy.

I don't care if this site belogs to Satan himself, its still not a deserving site to be hacked.

Admins screw up, and **** happens, do they deserve it? Hell No, they have other things to worry about, while i do agree that their are stupid admins out there, nobody deserves to be hacked.

NVNews is Rage3D for the nvidia world, they are the same as you and me, just perfer nvidia, so if we got hacked they would prolly laugh at us too.

Anyway, if you look at the thread you will see there are only a handful of militant fanATics making juvenile comments about being glad nvnews was hacked, and I would venture a guess that if rage3d were hacked, there would likewise be a handful of militant nvidiots making the same kind of comments right here at nvnews. The point is, those few idiots aren't representative of everybody, and it's unfortunate that they give the rest of us a bad name (at least in the eyes of some people). While the diehard juvenile fanATics may be a bit more outspoken than the rest of us rage3d regulars, they certainly are not the majority. Hmm ... on second thought ... :) You do have to admit, having fanboys around (on either side of the fence!) does make for some entertaining flame wars... lol

mavis

ps like several other rage3d regulars, I'm glad to see nvnews back up!!

I apologized for what I said. I took it back. I may have had my bad experiences here, but my posts were immature. As for R3D respect, it seems to me R3D has a FAR less biased user base than nVnews, thus I prefer R3D. Don't be set off by those members or me at times(sorry), there are alot fo GREAT guys in the 9700/8500 forums. If they call you an nVidiot, PM a mod, or me(not a mod, but I love to yell at them), as some tend to over react when ATi is put down in anyway. I accept the flaws, they can't. My name is ATi LoVeR 8500, I'm changing it to ATI LoVeR 9700 soon.

I dont think that there is less/more bias at either place. I do think that the average age of posters here is higher than at Rage3d.

What surprises me is how people get "hot" or "out of control" and start typing offensive, demeaning things. If you can't handle your immaturity and anger in front of a monitor and keyboard, alone, I'd hate to meet you in real life.

Personally I'm glad to see nV News backup and running. Sadly those flamers on Rage3D don't understand how much work is involved in running a website. No one deserves malicious attacks against it.

Hope you guys get back to full force soon. As for Mike's first post about CSS style you don't have to use fixed font sizes that prevent the ability to enlarge or shrink the font size. You can also use percentage based sizes or word based size such small or xsmall.

Good luck on everything.

Those comments only shows how the world is today. The lack of tolarance its becoming more common these days.

I cant believe how people react somtimes to little things like a freaking video card. If we react like this no wonder we kill each other for our religion or skin color.

You may think that what i said it is just a little extreme but take a moment and meditate on this. Do you think it is right to insult a person just because he use a different video card than yours or think it is better than yours?

the thing is, away from the safety of their homes, i bet most of these people wouldn't have the guts to say such things in real life face to face to another person.

People are retarded, this isn't news to me.
I've noticed a few I don't like over here, but good lord.
I'm certainly 'biased'...but only in that I don't like their driver support. Other than that, they make pretty decent stuff.

No offense, Ati Lover, but the only reason you think the R3D forums are FAR less biased than here is because they happen to agree with you. To the avg. nvnews poster, nvnews is FAR less biased than rage3d. As far as taking back what you posted, if you really want to take it back, edit the original post and follow ups that completely trash this place. They are quite pathetic. It's good to admit when you make a mistake, but you also should try and clean up the mess as well. Also, if you'll remember correctly, most of your bad experiences here arose from your early posts and nicknames. You came here begging for a flame-war, and got one. You shouldn't hold any of that against anyone here any more than you hold yourself responsible. How do you think one of us would be greeted at rage3d if we registered under the nick "Radeon 8500 sucks" or "Radeon 9700 sucks", and constantly bad-mouthed everything about ATI? Not very well I'd imagine. I truly hope you are going to become a responsible poster now, instead of an ATI fanboy. We don't need any more fanboys here. Especially with the war that's brewing over the new competition between the upcoming behemoths. NV30 vs. R300 is going to be fanboy heaven, since everyone is so excited about these two chips. It ought to be interesting...

I think most people post things online like this because they can. It's a completely unique situation, where even with some of your info known (maybe your country, state, etc.), you're still basically anonymous, and the only real repercussions for most is in the form of flames from other posters. In the offline world, there's far more to worry about, and most would never speak or act the same way that they do online.

Too many immature adults and kids online. I don't really care if they are 10 or 90 as long as they are mature.

and then I told the cashier that I will not pay for that cheese, off topic? hmm I think you may be right. It will all calm down in a couple of days once we get over the forums been back:)

This is what a thread should look like! Aside from some much-needed comic-relief from [Corporal Dan] and vampireuk, every post has had a legitimate point which was made without name-calling and flaming.

I imagine things will get ugly in the forums once NV30 is pitted against the 9700...Hopefully, we can approach everything in the same manner we did with this thread...

:D

Everynow and again it gets ugly when trolls from both sides replace their testicles with a video card and duke it out in our forums. Luckily the current mods(when they get their status back) are very quick to handle outbursts

I'd like to think I'm the same way. Unfortunately I sometimes tend to be easily goaded into joining in the flaming fun (psychology majors probably get a kick out of reading and analyzing some of the stuff on web forums:p)

I've been told I'm enough for a 10 year case study, now is that a good thing or a bad thing?
