The story is wrong. Dell's own specs read the U2412M as a 16:10 screen with a resolution of 1920x1200.

From the picture it definitely looks 16:10 and not 16:9. Still kind of interesting although it would have been better suited with an HDMI port as well. The LED backlight should bring power down quite a bit, but it's definitely not a cost effective replacement for power alone.
