Nice, will give them a shot when I get home. I'm still running the 260.xx driver as the 275's were not good for me.

DD, not to derail the topic, but how do you like the HannsG LCD? It has a good price and it's big for a 1920x1200. I'm thinking about a new LCD, but not sure if I should just get a 3D Nvidia one.

Well most of them are just 3D profiles.

Yep, that's what it looks like. So far I'm not seeing much difference between this set and the 270.61s, which is a good thing as that set performs well for me.

The only game I have that I haven't tried yet is Witcher 2. That game performed horribly with the 275.33s, I'm hoping this set meets or exceeds the .61s with that title.

Oh, haven't tried 3d with any titles yet, want to make sure they're stable first.

I had a problem installing them and usually that process goes very smoothly.

I installed and it got up to the HD Audio driver and it wanted to reboot, it has never done that before. It never finished the rest of the install though.

So I rebooted and when it came back in, the Nvidia driver window came up, looking like it was going to continue and finish. Then it said FAILED and ended.

So I had to start the install process over and it mixed my 270.61's with some of the newer files. I saw this when it shows the old and new versions side by side. It then installed and worked fine.

Very strange.

Performance seems good so far, only played WoW, seems a little better. I have yet to try Witcher 2. It almost seems like these are the 275.33's with some new 3D profiles. I hope I'm wrong.

I did a clean install from the installer prompt and always uncheck the audio driver as I don't need it and have had problems with it before. Try a custom install without the audio, and if that goes ok maybe try the audio after?

this can happen when you move from international driver to US only. international driver has bunch of extra files that sometimes don't get removed when you install US only driver.

when ever installing US driver on top of international, do a clean install with the option in the installer.

I'm sorry I didn't see this earlier Yaboze, but I love my HannsG monitor. It's clear and very sharp. I'm thinking about getting another one and doing the dual monitor thing. ;)

Thanks DDoc. :)

I'm going to look and see if any sites have run any benchmarks on these. It does just seem like a 3D profile update.

After upgrading to these drivers, Windows Experience Index reported a massive drop from 7.4 to 6.9 on my first gaming rig. However, it does fix some shadowing issues I've been having on Source engine games (namely, Garry's Mod and Team Fortress 2), and no performance drop can be observed in those games. The WEI remained unchanged on my MCPC.

Installing the drivers, however, was a pain. On my first gaming rig ("Edison"), the installer initially froze up the system whenever it was run. Managed to solve it by uninstalling every single trace of the old drivers, then booting into safe mode, and then installing part of the new drivers, then booting normally and installing the remaining drivers. Looks like Windows, for some reason, crashed whenever the new installer tried to uninstall the old drivers.

On my MCPC ("Helen"), Installation was much smoother. It did not freeze up the system when upgrading. However, the MCPC is now unable to properly shut off when I try to shut down the machine. The shutting down screen appears, LCD goes to sleep, hard disk activity ceases, then it sticks there, with the power light still on. Had to hold down the power switch until it powers down manually.

You made me curious, so re-rated mine and it went up from 7.5 to 7.6. I don't trust Windows rating anyway because my two 320 gig hard drives show a score of 5.9 in normal "SATA IDE" mode or in RAID 0.

Edit: to clarify, 280.26 was 7.6, 270.61 was 7.5, so it went up a bit with this newer driver.

Well, that's not too big of a deal to me. At least it fixed the shadow issues in TF2 and GMod and had no performance impact on said games on my setup - when I upgraded from 276.10 to 275.33 just a few days before the 280.26 drivers were released, I had issues where an object's shadow would render strangely or flicker, the problem seems to be gone with 280.26.

My bigger concern now is with my MCPC box tho. Apparently the latest driver has ACPI issues with the setup and couldn't perform a full shutdown.

HDD will not exceed 5.9, if you want higher then get SSD

Mine stayed at 7.9 for GPU/Graphics.

I'm stuck at 5.9 for my WD Black SATA drive. :bleh:

Well, I've just downgraded back to 275.33. I've decided that the inability to shutdown properly on my MCPC was a dealbreaker, since it appears to be a driver issue. I've already tried uninstalling everything and running Driver Sweeper before reinstalling, and it still won't shut down. Downgrading to 275.33 restored my ability to shut the system down correctly.

I've also downgraded on my gaming rig for the sake of consistency. I got my 0.5 WEI points back, and figured out how to work around the shadow flickering and rendering bugs. Don't think I'll miss OpenGL 4.2 support at all, since all the games I play works using OpenGL 2.0 or Directx 9.

I rolled back too. I started having issues with games that require physx not launching. Installing the latest package didn't work, a clean install didn't work, the whole safe mode, driver cleaner etc procedure didn't work - and the physx software wasn't even showing in programs and features, but installing the newest package - the installer said it was installed.

Not sure what else I could have done, but rolling back to the 270.61s fixed everything.

Performance was good on these too until that started acting up last night. Guess I'll wait for the next set.

I am having issues with these drivers also, both on my laptop and home machine. I get random slow downs and in game freezes. I need to roll back as soon as I get some time...

Guess I'll stay with 270.61 then. I had problems going to the 275 with video lines on hulu and other problems with 275.

This is 2 WHQL releases in a row I've had issues with. I hope the trend doesn't continue - I'd love to see a bit more performance squeezed out of my 480, or bug fixes etc.

Good to hear someone's happy with them.

The .33s killed Witcher 2 for me and this set broke physx no matter what I did.

Next set will give my 480 a 123% performance boost though..:bleh:

Something really weird happened with these, when i first tried them i had some stability issues : they stopped responding and crysis wouldn't run in dx11. So i installed the ones you're using now but i must have messed it up somehow because videos showed green pixels/lines around objects. Tried reinstalling both the earlier set and the 280's both nothing helped , green pixels came back in videofiles/movies .

Today i did a system recovery to where the 280.26's is now installed and not only is the green pixels gone in movies, they're also solid as a rock sofar in games. Not one single error/glitch wich is ofc good but i have no idea why it works now.

 yeah..
And physx and all is working fine for you? Color me confused too - Not sure if I mentioned it before, but I did install these twice trying to fix it. Now I'm tempted to try it again. I can always roll back if I need too...or i could just be happy with what I have as it works fine.
:o

I'm glad you got yours sorted though - gotta decide if I want to give these another go or not.
