My C drive sits at 45gb so for now I think a 60gb drive will be enough,
Whats good? i don't need the fastest but I want it to work.
Price is a factor.
I can wait if there's new controllers coming soon or whatever.

Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD2 2.5" 64GB SATA III SSD (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148441): $114.99

That's probably your winner. Very strong drive, and very fast.

Strong eh? How many lbs does it bench?

:captnkill:

Back on topic I'd go with an 80gb Intel 320 series drive now that they've fixed the firmware issue.

the intel is more expensive per gb and has a slower advertised read speed, Why is it better than the Crucial?
95MB/s writes seems very slow compared to ither 60gb drives though, Does it matter?

Is there a real point for someone who only plays GTAIV and does eBay getting a 120gb SSD,
The Corsair 120GB Force 3 SSD CSSD-F120GB3-BK looks nice but its a lot to spend if I have no real need for the space.

Im looking at the 60gb Agility at the moment like its good, Is it?

No reason to buy anything else when this Agility 3 is $85 after rebate

I'll probably go with that drive, But am in the UK so shame about the deal :(

I'll be using monopoly money though so its not so bad.

If vertex 2's (or equiv) are much cheaper (like they are here) I'd just go with that personally. Up to you though if the price difference is worth it. I guess the difference is pretty damn small on 60GB drives, so I take that back in your case... :p

I think I wouldn't buy a sata II drive out of principal even if sata III held no noticeable gains.
Its about 10 cheaper.

I don't know that the Intel drive is better. I just go Intel by default in the systems I sell.

What is the advertised speed on that Crucial drive anyway?

95/415 MB/s for the Crucial

The read speed is the 415MB, which is going to contribute to the seriously fast load times. The write speed isn't as important.

However, the price is good, and the reviews are great. That's the reason I chose it.

Just saw this deal. I've got the 48GB version and haven't had any problems with it.

I went with the 120GB Force 3 because of the price, twice the space for a bit more money.

Does it come with a bracket? eBuyer buyers also bought a bracket...

If it doesn't I'll make one from Meccano :D

- Includes 3.5" Desktop Adapter Bracket

Most do. Then again most modern cases have SSD support.

Is this a demo of how fast SSDs are or how slow MacOS is? ::bleh::

I have a feeling my PC will take longer to get out of the bios than for windows to start once it does.

I notice the eBuyer price went up by 15 on the SSD after I bought one, Thats always satisfying :D

Heh... I don't think you realize that includes loading all of those resource hungry programs. CS5.5 is awefully slow on a C2D and a hdd. That and mac takes the first 12 - 14 seconds before it even starts to boot the OS. That's the one thing that EFI is pretty slow at, I swear I could boot a BIOS faster than EFI does. It is improving though on the more recent Dells.

Actually this demo is over a year old with the previous SandForce based Mercury Extreme Pro....

I am pretty sure it compares their SSD with the standard MAC drive...

typical Mac owner lives in an Apple bubble so would have only appreciated the "how fast SSD's are" side of the video, But we know.. right ;)
I'm not that guy btw/ screw that guy, I hate him! :D

Ordering a OCZ Vertex 2E 60GB for 79 this week just for Linux. I don't need much storage space anyway. Got some money back on my 500GB HDD drive anyway and I just would never use the space. OCZ Vertex got great reviews
