OK, By now I'm getting a bit P@*&ed Off !.

No doubt this has already been answered somewhere but I can't find it.

If I run my games from scratch and set up all the options through the menus I have no initial problems running them in dual monitor set up (1 Cpq TFT1520 @ 1024 * 768 Analogue conn & 1 Cpq TFT8020 @ 1280 * 1024 DVI conn)

When I exit and reload the game I get the following error message:

When I disable the 1520 monitor the game runs perfect.

Why the so called Super Duper GeForce FX5900 256DDR shouldn't have these problems surely.

Try to download the latest driver for the monitor, it seem the monitor is the problem. I assume the monitor is from Compaq, download the latest TFT1520 driver Version: 2.00 A (09/12/2002)here. (http://www29.compaq.com/falco/sp_detail.asp?Model=4967&Div=1&Os=0&SoftwareVer=15834)

I realised I noticed you have 2 monitors, the other one is TFT8020, download the latest TFT8020 driver Version: 3.00 A (04/05/2002) (ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/softpaq/sp20001-20500/sp20493.exe).

I looked through OpenGL log and pointed out that you tried to launched it at 1280x1024, it seem to be TFT1520 monitor problem because this monitor is only support maximum resolution of 1024x768. It look certainly to me that you wanted to run the game with dual monitors? If so then you should reduce the game resolution to 1024x768 to allow both monitors to display the same resolution.

Of course you pissed yourself off cos it your user error, nothing to do with wonderful 5900 Ultra card. :D

Athlon,

Already have the latest drivers. I think your misunderstanding the problem.

In Display Properties setup I have set the TFT8020 as the primary monitor and the TFT1520 as secondary.

All programs launched open in the primary monitor, and can be moved to the secondary monitor by dragging them to the location.

The primary monitor has a maximum resolution of 1280 * 1024 and reports this.

Setting the game to open in this resolution is not the problem, its something to do with the "open gl".

Setting the resolution to 1024 * 768 still reports the same problem. When I used the Radeon 9700 Pro I never had this problem.

If you notice the fault occurs when its tries to "Initializing OpenGL driver ". I read somewhere that the problem is caused by the Open GL driver and by disabling the secondary monitor the fault disappears, which appears to be the case.

My complaint is that if Radeon can overcome this why can't Nvidia?

Whats the point in offering a Dual Monitor Card if when you try to use it it fails?

Hence Pissed Off - Card is not cheap

I'm pretty sure this is a known issue with opengl. You can't run two monitors with any quake3 engine opengl games. I remember this back when nvidia first had twinview on their cards.

So why can you do it with Radeon Cards, surely Nvidia are suppossed to be the leaders.

For the cost of these FX5900 cards you would expect the same level of expertise, if not better.

Have just tested at work the 9800 and Parphanelia, both worked fine, only Nvidia had the problem

I had always thought it was an issue with Nvidia that was fixed- I guess not. Your 5900 start to flicker yet? What happened to them?

I don't about "Flicker" , but it jumps now and then - I'm trying to be happy about this card but to be honest it's far below what I expected.

Perhaps I was wrong to read the reviews

Did you installed the latest patch for Return to Castle of Wolfenstein 1.41?

Quake 3 based engines games does support dual monitors on Nvidia cards too. I cant remember years ago that in some Wolfenstein updates that will enabled dual monitor support on Nvidia cards. Maybe that the reason you may forget to use the patches.

I had seen the pictures in the past reviews that the reviewers been ran Quake 3 on dual monitors with Nvidia cards.
