Audigy2 better be patchable. 7.1 is a crock anyway, no better than 6.1 But EAX4, now that could be interesting.

List price for the high-end model "Platinum Pro" is around USD $292.
The price for sale should be lower.
Just sold my Echo Gina24 2 weeks ago, and now using CMI8738.
I think it's time for me to upgrade soundcard now. :)

The fourth post at that link says the Audigy and Audigy 2 will support eax 4.0 after new drivers later this year. :afro2:
Hopefully it'll work out ok... Creative's drivers are far from the best. :(
Its still an Audigy2, that should mean that the it has the same effects engine, and doesnt the Audigy also use the same effects engine for games? I think that EAX4 will be supported in drivers for the Audigy1+2

Its the same thing creative has been doing for years. Release a new card that has the exact same hardware as the previous generation and only changes the drivers. Just think of how they changed the original live value. Exact same card just added 5.1 to it. Upped the price and claimed it to be an upgrade. Same thing as the ole mp3/gamer versions. Said they do different things yet it was the exact same card. Just a different bundle with each. Gotta love marketing spins.

Why would you think that when EAX3 isn't supported by Audigy1? Seems more than a little odd to me that EAX4 would be supported by Audigy1 when EAX3 isn't.

And it works with Audigy1...
Yeap Advanced HD came with the Audigy, then the Audigy 2 increased the speed by upto 4x, the Audigy 2.5 add more features to it.

Hahaha, yes. Sorry, I was thinking of SBLive and I was apparently too tired to think straight.
Well the Live! does support it (Unofficaly) but only in pure software mode so the performance hit is pretty big.

Except for the extra channels, it's bull**** marketing. If you don't have a 7.1 setup and don't plan to, keep your Audigy2. Don't be victims of their devious business tactics if you don't need to be.
