View Full Version : GeForceFX Go5650 ...
apparently Dell will soon announce a new notebook in the coming weeks. http://www.merlinsoftware.com/8600.jpg
anyone know the details of the Go5650, or is it just a 128MB version of the Go5600 ...
It could be just a clock bump and extra memory, but the 5650 just sounds to strange to be true.
well, the chip does exist; dell is selling a GeForceFX Go5650 equipped notebook ...

Isn't this just some PR name, as Dell can make up their own in regards to computer parts. I don't think this is a new chip or a speed-bump for GeForceFX Go5600.

That'd probably rather be GFFX 5700 Go...
No idea about the 5650. Higher clocked ( like the 400/400 NV31U ) NV31 maybe?

regardless of its name, the mobile GPU comes with 128 MB of memory. this is apparently nvidia's response to the Mobility Radeon 9600. still, i do admit that ATI is far, far more credible in the mobile arena than nvidia. as such, my next notebook with come equipped with ATI hardware.
Found some information on it, it's infact a Flipchip version of the mobile.

Have Nvidia confirmed that the NV36 will be called GF FX 5700? because maybe they will go with 5650 instead, and then name the upcoming PCI-Express version 5700... That seems stupid, but remember the 8x AGP G4 ti boasted the 4800 tag, putting it above all GF 4 ti's.. even though the se was below the 4600 in performance..
MSI has called it the FX 5700 as it's a refresh of the FX5600 as such it should be given another name.

I guess they chose the incremental '5650' over '5700' merely because it has 128MB of memory, but why are they calling the PCI Express part a '5700'? I'd call the PCI Express parts NV5x and give them a name like GeForce FX^2 6000. Something to show that they have a radical new bus architecture.

well, nvidia was silly enough to name a card 'GeForce4 MX' despite it being more akin to a GeForce 2 / 3
anyway, it's a shame the GeForce FX 5650Go performs rather poorly up against the Mobility Radeon 9600. maybe the Det50 series of drivers will improve the 5650's performance. i had no problems with nvidia hardware prior to the GeForce FX line; i wonder what happened ...

:p:p in no way shape or form is the GF4MX akin to a GF3 :p:p
Sorry I had to say that. I know we all hold the GF3 in much higher regard than that. :D:cool:

oof, flamage :gasp: ;)
Why is everyone saying that the Det50s will be the end-all of poor FX performance? I've read some preliminary benchmarks, and so far the best performance increases seen with the Det50s (51.75) over the Det40s (45.23) is about 15-20% (I can't remember if it was a synth benchmark or an actual game). Does anyone have linkage?
