Just curious if anyone here made it to QuakeCon this year? This was my first year and I had an incredible time...wonder if I ran into anyone without even knowing it...

I wanted to go but I couldn't get anyone to make the road trip with me! Now the mandatory question.....how did Doom3 look in person?

Having seen Doom3 up and running for the second time now ( not counting the 0.02 Alpha build we all played ), I must say that I have mixed emotions. On one hand, the visuals and graphics are absolutely stunning. However, the multiplayer aspect is questionable at best ( was a bit boring ) and the performance on top of the line hardware at the show was rather poor when running multiplayer. In my opinion, that should scare the hell out of anyone who isn't currently running the latest and greatest hardware...

I still look forward to it :D
NV40 will be out before Doom 3 is, and R420 will probably be right around the corner by the time of D3's release.

I am looking forward to the single player part of this game, but I really wanted to know what you thought of the MP and you answered that - thanks! I remember very clearly downloading and playing the demo for Q3 when it was first available and I had a TNT2 Ultra at the time. Anything above 800x600 was pretty much unplayable and Doom 3 seems to be close to the same scenario.
With all the speculation on release dates of both games and hardware it's tough to know what will be out when, but I'm sure you can have a similar experience with a 9700/9800 or a 5900 and Doom 3 as I had with Q3 and my TNT2 all those years ago.:D
A lot of people have been complaining over the past year on how the software is behind the hardware and that you don't need that much power. Now we will get to hear all the complaints about the game being too demanding for people's current rigs......there's no way to make all of the people happy all of the time. As for me, I'd rather take a big step forward software-wise and let Nvidia & ATI play catch up for a while!;)

I wanted to go just to see if the [H] people and the nVidia people got into a brawl! ;)
