MMX Tech over on the Quake***** gaming forums stumbled on to a serious problem using Soldier Of Fortune II Multiplayer with the WHQL 45.23 Drivers -- they remove all instances of fog!! Since SOF2 is a game supported by PunkBuster and played heavily in CAL, this could be a very big problem as gamers using these drivers could be wrongfully busted for cheating if server admins use PunkBuster ScreenShots to determine is players are using hacks in tandem with these drivers.

Other Quake III engine games could also be effected somehow.

Note: replace the **** with the common 4-letter word!

I don't have missing fog when i play SOF2, this probably is just his computer.

GeForce 3 Ti-200 (240c/480m) using 45.23 dets.

*Edit*

Must of missed the part where it says "FX5900" somehow. Either way, he shouldn't claim its like this for all people with a GeForceFX 5900, it could be that something in his system that is messed up.

I have seen people post about this problem in several forums lately with the Detonator 45.23's. I havn't been affected by this issue with the 45.23s and my GF 4 Ti4600 thankfully.

Here are some screenshots I took while using the new Detonator 45.23's and my Ti4600 card.

Apparently, this issue is limited to these drivers being used in tandem with a Geforce FX. Sorry for not clairifying that! :o

Just to clarify... it's only the FX range that suffer this problem something to do with OpenGL 2.0 or sumfink..... So any Quake3 engine games will suffer with fog!! GREAT I'm hosting a LAN party next week, and now need to rollback driver to play MOH, but when we go onto Blitzkrieg I'm gonna have to install the 45.23 drivers!! GOD damn it!

I'm also told that it might be upto game developers (e.g. EA) to fix the problem in a patch....... OK, nvidia pass the buck!! Like EA are gonna respond to this issue!!

So looking at the issues with FX cards:

1) screen flickering major issue
2)Clicking noises from the card mega major issue
3) OpenGL issues......

Is this a conspiracy?? As ATI done something so we all go over the fence to ATI??? Hmmmmm...... just a thought......

Not sure how thing has anything to do with OGL2.0, as

a) OGL2.0 has not been finalized or released.
b) Quake3 engine games do not use OGL2.0.
c) NVIDIA does not have OGL2.0 support in the driver yet.
