View Full Version : Smoother Performance At Stock CPU Speed?

I don't know if anyone has noticed but when overclocking but with me I seem to get smoother performance at stock CPU speed. What I mean is that stutter in games go away. Anyone else experience this? it seems a bit strange I know or maybe it's random.

Sounds like your OC isn't good. My PC is a lot smoother and faster at OC then stock.

Maybe random then, nothing huge but just minor stutters sometimes.

Use IntelBurntest to see if your CPU o/c is stable....

Sounds like thermal throttling.

Did it a second time and it passed.

I don't 8.5 minutes of stress testing tells you anything at all.

I've seen unstable systems run Prime95 small fft test for hours on end before problems show up.

What I do when overclocking a processor is run Prime95 small fft test for a few days on all the cores and if it's still running on all of them at that point I consider it stable.

My Phenom 9850BE @2.9ghz got around 28gflops
My Phenom II 965BE @ 3.9ghz gets around 58-60gflops

I'd say that you have something else slowing you down. I can't see your cpu getting less than 30gflops.

Also I've found that intelburntest is far better for testing stability than OCCT, Prime95, orthos, etc. It generates more heat, and reveals problems faster. I usually run it on maximum.

Yeah, tried it on maximum and got these results. All seems normal so it maybe graphics driver but it's not a big issue and probably just a random stutter.
