I don't think those xbit lab numbers are right, but I don't know.
I guess your previous
"WOW"
"WOWOWOWOWOOW R360 WOWOWOOWWOW"
statements are NULL Because it appears that the R360 is going to be a POS that is almost as much of a letdown as the R350... And this thing hasn't been announced/released sooner than any of us thought, if anything, LATER than we all thought.

Hmmm, well it'll bring prices further down so who cares :D
People were surprised about how high the R350 got so hey know knows how far they can take it!!

I think 420 to 425core 750memory will be the clocks for the 9900.
But they will need better cooling for sure. :)

Durrrr the same thing was said about the nv30 and 35, the board was spammed with posts about how great it was going to be
I don't know pretty much all 9800Pro's can have their core clock at 420MHz with it's refrence cooler.

I dont see why it wont be 450 core, even xbit labs said so
Yeap if the 9800Pro's can do 420MHz easy i don't see why 30MHz more would make much diffrence on a enhanced revision core and more efficent cooling.

Because it's ATI. Even if they can get 450+ out of most of the chips, I doubt they would. R350 runs at about 380 right? But most can go much higher than that. RV350's run at 400 and most can get much higher than that, around 500 but it's still only clocked at 400.
Keep in mind that they can keep the clocks the same and tweak the chip and have a much faster chip.
The 9700/9800/9600 are fast because they have lots of parallel execution units in each pixel shader.
I bet you will see the biggest performance increase in the pixel shaders and half-live 2 will really rock.
The R360 will be worth it if it uses better memory... If the memory is alot better and clock higher, then it may be worth it.. along with a better cooling design, and a tweaked core, i think it may be worth the upgrade from a 9700pro for the high end buyers among us.. just depends how 9700pro's handle HL2. Personally, if i had a 9700pro, i wouldn't consider it.. but i don't upgrade that often, thats just me.

Ok, so it's 10% faster than your current card. Is that going to make an unplayable game bearable? I doubt it. I suspect that ATI will withdraw the 9800Pro as soon as 9800XT is available in numbers.

HAHAH I wonder if it is more than we all suspect. ATI has kept this card under tight wraps. We won't even know the official specs till release day. I wouldn't be suprised if it was .13 or some thing crazy that we don't know about. Dout it but I excpect 20%+ over the 9800pro.

personaly i think the performance: R350->R360 is smaller then R300->R350.
Lets just hope i'm wrong, in this case i would be very happy :)

Nah, the 9800np has already stared being taken from stores. The 9800pro will take the 9800np's place and the XT will be the new pro. Simple as that :) To bad for the people who diddn't get a 9800np while they could but.. was a good card while it was out. Hopefully the 9800pro will drop to similar prices to the 9800np is/was now/afew days ago.

Nope your wrong.
Sometimes There is more to a cards speed increases than mere clock speeds. Of course those dont hurt either. *around* a 50mhz increase on both sides of the ball. (notice i said *around* that is not intended to be an exact number by me).

Are there some more details you can share with us? :D
You sound like there would be some core tweaks. Are they to increase performance or do they increase IQ or do they add features? How much of a speed increase do you roughly expect from R350 to R360?
Thanks!

I understand that, i hope the R360 has enough core tweaks ( besides the increase in the core/memory speed ) to give a bigger performance jump than the R300->R350. Only in this situation i see a good reason for upgrading from a 9700/9800 Pro.
Let's just hope you are right and i'm wrong.
Didn't DaveBaumann from beyond3d say something about ATI adding some enhanced shadow rendering to counter Nvidia's ultra shadow technique. It sounded like he had some inside info.
Can't find the link..

Well the difference between a 9800np and 9700 pro is almost nill (2-3%) so...
My Hercules 9800 Pro can do 440Mhz core with it's enhanced copper cooling fan. Maybe they are holding back on the clock speed, so they can bring out a card faster then the 9800 XT in the future
