Yeah, sure looks like an overclocked 9800P to me.......
For folks who don't OC then ok I can see it....... but other than that:baaa::

BUT!!!!!

You can overclock r360 for core let's say 500MHZ. That's a beast

Maybe not, since they already mention having to use a more elaborate cooling solution for the r360. That tells me that it probably has very little overclocking room since afterall, it's still pushing .15u.

consider the default clock is up 70mhz from the regular 9800pro...

I would think that a 10mhz overclock is rather conservative in light of that...

of course if this had been an fx core I am sure your response on the issue would have been a lot more optimistic... init :)

stock 9800 pro is 380/340
the average 9800 pro does 420/370

stock 9900 pro is speculated to be 420/400
How much headroom does this leave us if the 9900s
are overclocked 9800s already? very, very little, basically
you get ram thats speced a bit faster, but the core is all the same
except speed binned by ati as 420 since their yields at 420
are good enough. I expect 430 to be average overclocks

Well the article does say there are some extra features added to the cards, and i really hope they use good memory this time so i can get more than a 20mhz overclock

If you have a 9800\9800 pro Forget 9900 it is a waste of money in my opinion...

The 9900 is a little better overclocked version of the 9800 just for ATi to win the 5900 by some Fps..Big DEAL
Same goes for Nvidia and Nv38 against the 9900

Do not fall in the ATI\Nvidia war hype and spend your money for some few fps etc
They only battle for few Fps right now with current hardware

The real upgrade for a 9800 is a R420 (it is expected twice faster) and that's i am planning to buy somewhere in next year

Until then if you have a 9800 go for a new CPU or better and more Ram etc do not spend your money for few extra Fps

Anyway the R420 and Nv40 are coming real soon after the 9900 and Nv38 release so do not make <<sudden moves>> for spending money for anything right now (if you have a high end card already)

That's my opinion at least

ATI even says that it is more of an overclocked version of the R350

DAMN i guess not waiting for it and buying a 9800 was not so good choice after all for me

What 3DM2k3 score do you get? They say the R360 should be able to score 6750-/7000+... I don't think you can get those same scores with an overclocked R350 at R360-speeds...

FUnny uoi should say that i have just looked and there is a guy that broke 8000pts on an o/ced P4 @ 4GHz

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k3=1001768

People with 3.5GHz system seem to get about 7000pts

it may be 420/400 clocks, although one guy says 450/400. lets see whats stock and how they oc, but I dont think its gonna even be a 9700 to 9800 upgrade difference

Of course they are going to say it is more than an overclocked R350....
What would you expect them to say?
420 is nothing for the 350.

I don't think those xbit lab numbers are right, but I don't know.

Me neither. 425Mhz seems much more reasonable though.
I still rated it Fairly High because the other stuff, including the memory clock, seem reasonable to me - but we'll see...

I think it was gonna be either 420/400 or 450/400
