I just ordered snb-e parts from newegg canada. Should be here by friday or early next week. Can't wait to try out the new toys. Here is what I purchased:

i7-3930 core i7 2011 processor
asrock x79 extreme 4 mb
16gb of g.skill ripjaws z quad channel ram ddr-3 2133mhz
zalman socket 2011 cpu cooler (dual 120mm fans)

got it all for about $1200 w/tax.

Sweet upgrade:drooling: I've never used an asrock board but that looks pretty nice. The active cooling is definitely a blast from the past but I like it. hope you enjoy it

that's not really an upgrade , its mostly a tad faster compared to his current system . too much overhead anyway lol . but for you CO2 ignorant people that's no problem ;)

Nice!
What would be like the 4th or 5th system swap for you this year :p

your about right. from intel 980x x58 to amd phenom 2 890fx to phenom 2 990fx to intel 980 x58 to x79 core i7 3930. 5. I wish I hadn't done the amd ones though or even got rid of the 980x. anyhow, I am getting a nice chunk of change for my cuurent mb, cpu and ram that makes up for 75% of the cost of the new parts from a guy locally.

I got MB ASUS|RAMPAGE IV EXTREME/BF3 X79,
CPU INTEL|CORE I7 3930K 3.2G 12MB R,
MEM 4Gx4|CORSAIR CML16GX3M4A1600C9B.
I'll use my Prolimatech Geneis 1366 cooler with bracket that comes with the Rampage IV Extreme.:D

I'd wait until Ivy Bridge.

Very cool dude, not a lot of upgrades these days, so take pictures and lots of benchmarks for us folks that aren't upgrading for a while.

Is that still on track for end of the year/early next year?

Nice, looking forward to seeing the pics. I'll be sticking with my system for a while, the new CPU's don't offer much for me in terms of extra gaming performance which is my main focus.

still waiting on the ram. should be here monday. BTW, the cooler I bought (zalman cnps12x) is so big that I have buy another cooler because it covers the ram slots and potentially pci-e x16 slot 1. Going with a corsair either h60 or h80 liquid cooler since they provide 2011 brackets with them now. Also, that's all my local store has for snb-e coolers. slawter, the amd builds were dumb. I still regret selling off my gigabyte ud9 mb. I thought I was saving money by going amd. It cost me alot in performance. Glad I went back to intel. Never again amd, cpu or graphics.

exchanged mb's. first, the cpu socket pins were bent on the asrock. Two, asrock offers a 1 year warranty. I am getting the gigabyte ga-x79a-ud3 mb. More pci-e slots, more sata ports and now gigabyte with x79 offers a five year warranty with registration. still waiting on the ram. and it was $20 more for the gigabyte over the asrock.

Nice!

If I could use my Palits in Tri-SLI I would have also upgraded. Just to have a higher CPU clock for Tri-SLI. Your OC seems like a nice improvement over what I can get with my old CPU.

Yeah have voltage set in offset mode at 30, speedstep enabled, in Intel burn test on high, voltage gets to 1.368 and cpu never gets to 60 C cpu is sweet, also in 3dmark 11 on physics test goes into the 40's where my 980X was at 32 33.:D

fasedww, kickass dude. That is some mean hardware. Go to the benchmarking thread and run some of those I want to see what that beast can do. When you get time and are done drooling over your hardware.

got my parts all installed. love the intel nic onboard. now have two msi lightning xtreme's in sli.
had to put away the raid card again (lsi 9260-4i) because a bios update to f4 on the x79-ud3 stops the pc from posting with the card in.

here are my wei scores:

cpu:7.8
ram: 7.9
media graphics: 7.9
gaming graphics:7.9
hard drive: 7.9

Like everyone speculates, it must take a intel snb-e 8 core to get 7.9 on the cpu wei.

I got ASRock Extreme4 and what a steal for $234. I was sceptical about it, but i have nothing to say but great about this board and overclocking is excellent.
