Hehe, just saw this awesome Dork Tower comic over at gamespy:

Side note:
For those who would like a tool to use against spam, check out McAfee's SpamAssassin. The engine's available in a number of formats for free, but the easiest one to use is commercial. I find it that it properly marks about 95% or so of spam coming into my e-mail account (my school recently implemented it into their e-mail server).

Free stuff:

The latest spam is on mobile phones, you get sent a text saying you have won a prize and to call a number that costs you £1.50 a minute. The worst thing is I get these at about 3 in the morning, if I find the company that sends these I'm going to kill them.

Ugh. Now that's bad. With unlimited free text messaging, I could see how text messages could become very problematic for spam...

One has to wonder...how much money do companies actually make from spam? Do they just piss people off? Or do some idiots actually pay attention to it?

Umm, as far as I know, not all plans have free text messaging. If only someone could sue spammers for costing them money...it would serve just dandy. The only way these spammers will ever stop anyhow, is if it costs them more then it could possibly ever make them to send this kind of spam. Then as a matter of enlightened self interest they'll stop to keep their own costs down.

At least with telemarketers, you could put an annoying screeching sound or something on the phone that would hurt their ear once identifying them as a telemarketer. That way they either hang up or get a migrane and have trouble concentrating for the rest of their call list  But text messaging spam, no such luck.

Well, some states here in the US have begun to pass anti-spam laws, threatening rather stiff fines and even jail time.
