The only vidcard bios flashing I've done is with a GF4 and an FX5200 using the gainward utility...

I have atiflash and the newest bios file... and am aware of the tags I should use in the dos prompt...

but...

I could have missed something in my speed reading, but do I need to boot with a pci card, or can I execute this flash from a dos prompt, booting from the 8500 AIW DV?

... I have lines on the screen in startup, and I'm only getting 32mb memory detected... I wanna AT LEAST take care of the memory addressing issue... it may be component failure but I wanna try flashin the bios first...

If it' sthe ram itself that is bad, then I'm gonna desolder them and find and install some quicker ram chips... :) ... of course after doing sufficient research to even see if there's any suitable replacements for the odd-form-factor chips used on the AIW CV...

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated...

:)

copy all the files onto a boot disk and jus reboot the comp with it.

If it is a prob out of nowhere ..not jus sometin u got after driver update or sometin.. then it is most likely that ur ram is damaged(Jus a guess).

:(

It happened after a core lap job/application of ramsinks...

:(

It's probably bad ram, but I gotta make sure...

It's weird that it still performs pretty darn good though...

XIII demo acted REAL weird though... everything else ran fine, maybe it's an R200/cat3.6 issue... serious texture issues... I'll post screenies tonite in another thread...

So I don't need a PCI vidcard, huh?
