Hey everyone!

I'm mildly stressed over the results of the UT botmatch that I have been doing with my Uncle who has a raddy 9800!

We practally have the same system but with different graphics cards. There seems to be a 20 Frame increase on his results compared to mine when we do the following :-

My System (FX5900 Ultra)| Uncles system (Rad 9800)
|
DM-Anubis | DM-Anubis
with 16 bots | With 16 bots
High Detail | High Detail
RES 1024x768 | RES 1024x768
AA = 8x | AA = 16x
AF = 8x | AF = 8x
FPS = 43.22183 | FPS = 65

I know this is really nothing to worry about but its annoying to see the best GPU outthere being out done by a raddy.

Also I have seen the previews of the Normal Nvidia FX5900 Ultra with the overclocking bits but I dont seem to have that on my creative one! I have installed the new drivers but still dont have it!

I've been out of the home PC scene for quite a while so any help at all would be most grateful!

Many thanks

1. Welcome to nvnews... :)

2. Yer talkin about normal UT, right?? I sure hope so... nice systems, btw...

3. 16AA w0w... um, that must look pretty darn nice... same goes for 8x, I've never even looked @ 8x AA before...

4. It's a true known fact that R3XX cards definitely can handle more AF/AA at various resolutions than any NV3X variant...

:)

WOW that was quick! :)

Hi Thanks for the Welcome!

Yep talking about the normal UT2K3

So basically the raddys better than the 5900? Hmmm oh well!

Any ideas on the overclocking stuff for the card?

Just built the machine a couple of weeks ago just soak testing the CPU and GPU!

Thanks for getting back to me!

just search for and download coolbits...

run it, go to the new clock settings tab, and click the check box... let your system restart, and then go to windows and start playin... go till she freezes... It might help to check the net for reviews on your specific model of card, and see what everyone else is getting out of it...

... my UT question pertained to "is that just Unreal Tournament (1999) or UT2K3 (2002)? ... that's all right, you basically answered the question...

:)

There is no reason to be stressed out...the Geforce 5900 Ultra and the Radeon 9800 Pro alternate back and forth in benchmarks (it depends on the game, settings, system, etc).

Test the 5900 Ultra and Radeon 9800 Pro at 8xAF and 4xAA at a higher resolution, and the 5900 Ultra might pull ahead in fps. For the best combo of performance and image quality with the Geforce FX, it is probably best to try those settings.

Should have a review of Creative's 3D Blaster 5 FX5900 Ultra right here at NVNews next week. While it will not quiet beat a 9800Pro on everything it does overclock nice. I included an overclocking section.

It will be my first review here so go easy on me...:D

Well.. A long as you *also* Overclock the 9800pro to its peak as well both core and ram. Then you get a more fair result instead of just overclocking one card. (something i particularly dispise in most reviews).

Im sure you will do a fine job regardless. ;)

I look forward to seeing your *Secret*..

The 5900 Ultra review will just be on the particular card with no comparisons with 'other' cards. Nevertheless, it does well on its own merits and performed well.

Creative did a good job and included quality components. No, anomalies such as the flickering were experienced. Yes, I did run the tests as presented in another thread. Thanks are in order to those who made those tests available to everyone. But this card did not make a sound or flinch or flicker during the tests.

The 9800Pro (128MB), initially has proven to be fast with considerable headroom. How much? I don't know, yet, but I plan to find out very soon. :D

I guess most here would like to see a comparison? If so, that may be done as well.

These higher ends are meant to play games at AA+AF which means radeon 9800p is the best for u.

Rytar..

Just think about what kind of *headroom* you are going to get in the not to distant Future from both companies :)

heh.. It will be interesting (for me) to see just what a R3XX can do at around 500mhz ;)

Thanks for all the info, I look forward to seeing your reviews on the Creative 5900 and how much you can push it!

Still this is my very first Nivida card (well apart from the Geforce 2Go in my laptop) I've bought and I like it!

Just check out the www.rage3d.com forum, UT2K is the only game a Radeon can play w/o rebooting the comp :D :D
