I'm going to be honest- I'm dissappointed. The 7790 seems to be on par with the 6870, and occupies the exact same price point the 6870 occupied. Performance isn't states so it is possible the 7790 could be considerably faster than a 6870 but I'm not holding my breath.

I mean, the 5770 offers 4870 performance at a significant reduction in heat and power consumption while costing a whole lot less than the 4870. That is going from one generation to the next. I expected much of the same with the 7 series. I was expecting 5870 performance from the 7700s, 6970 performance from the 7800s, and 6990 performance from the single GPU 7970. It seems to be there towards the top end however the mainstream almost seems like a re-badging of prior-gen GPUs. If that is the case I am *very* disappointed.
