View Full Version : Max 3 question.

I am really interested in the new IC7Max3 mb but i am wondering a couple things.
Is there any adaptors you can get so you could use a older serial device with this mb?
I know this is a dumb question but does this mb still have regular printer port on it? Or a adaptor because i will still need to use my old printer once and a while.
I am asking these questions because i had heard these mb's (maxes) did away with alot of the legacy connections.
This will be me first intel built machine and i want the best o/c board i can get.

You can buy a serial PCI card yes although i would buy a new printer thats USB /2.0 or firewire.

So i can buy a pci card for my serial port but what about my printer port?
Buying a new printer is not in the cards.

So basically i would have to buy 2 pci cards.
1 for my serial port and one for my parrallel(printer port).
Maybe the max 3 isnt my best option.
Can anyone reccomend a really good overclocking p4 mb that has the ports i need?
Abit is out because they only have vdimm up tp 2.8. on the ic7 series.
How about asus?

Dlink have a usb to printer port.

Dlink Usb Parallel Printer Port Converter (http://www.dlink.pl/produkte/products_direct.asp?product=DU-CP)

or had ??? this is the only one I found, as from .pl is that Poland, so it must been discontinued on the main Dlink websites.

These converters used to be very expensive , here is what I found today.

enter "USB to parallel" in the search field on the
pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com/) website, and you will come up with numerous converters that cost from $11 and up.

You donīt need to buy a pci card.

PS Im considering a IC7 MAX3 meself and will need a converter for my pll laser.

Thats good news.
