What happens when you instal normal Fx drivers when you have a Quadro Fx. Is it possible to have a descent gaming performance then, or is it totaly incorrect what i'm saying ?

I have a GeForce NV28 and Quadro NV28GL.
The workstation card scored 15K on 3DMark01 and the GeForce card scored 14K using Detonator version 41.09.
The workstation card also performed significantly better on UT2003 with a 25MB custom map. Performance was indistinguisable with 'normal' UT2003 maps.

DM-2019 or whatever that Blade-Runner-esque level was?

Ok, thx, but not a real answer to my question though. ( or i just misunderstand your post )
The workstation card was running Quadro drivers ? My question was, when running normal drivers.

Specifically I tested a Quadro4 980 XGL against an identically-clocked (i.e. overclocked) GeForce4 Ti4800SE on Detonator 41.09. On a Barton 3000+ powered SN41G2 nForce2 machine, 3DMark 2001 gaming benchmark was higher for the workstation card, 15,140 vs. 14,240.
Note that the cards were enginering samples, and did not have identical clocks or RAMs.

DM-2019 or whatever that Blade-Runner-esque level was? The 25 MB map is the NVIDIA Campus Paintball. This map really needs a Barton and a NV30 or later, but is mostly playable on a Thoroughbred 2600+ and my NV28 XGL. This game map is not playable on my Barton 3000+ and NV28 Ti4800SE.

 Where can I grab it?

Let me check with my friend in NVIDIA Developer Relations to see if it's released to the public. I'll follow up in PM so we don't hijack this thread.

Reviving an old thread forthe following question:
"I got a better score with my Quadro [**??using detonator drivers??**] than with my Geforce, using the detonator drivers"
It still wasn't totally clear. Missing a corresponding qualifier.
Sun is auctioning Opteron workstations on ebay with no reserve. So far they're selling cheaper than what I could put together myself... but they come with a Quadro card.
I know this is going to make workstation pros cringe with horror.... but I don't need a quadro card. So I have the same question:
A quadro card runs fine with Geforce [forceware] drivers? If I want the boost in gaming... ?
Well, I used the RivaTuner SoftMod on my GF6800GT, modded into a Quadro 4000, and all games ran just as good as before.
They both use the same Unified Driver package, Forceware package, which installs either Geforce or Quadro drivers depending on the card, in my case rivatuner installs a small driver that fools the installation to think its a Quadro so it will install the Quadro drivers.
So it seems Quadros run games just fine..

*sigh*
which still doesn't answer the question. Thank you for the post, though.
Since a Quadro is structurally different from a Geforce in certain respects, there are certain functions a Quadro card performs that a Geforce card, even softmodded, will not. Most of us will never use these features, so a softmod does the following: allows us to use drivers tweaked for 3D programs, which is a plus.
My question remains, though:
******Geforce DRIVERS will run a Quadro CARD just fine? ... with the improvement in gaming performance?******
{That is, are there hardware tweaks in a geforce card that are not present in a Quadro card, or is the ENTIRE difference in gaming performance [between comprably clocked Quadro and Geforce cards] due to the drivers [as i suspect]}
I know it sounds ridiculous, buying a Quadro card to run Forceware drivers. But humor me on this one.
I havent heard of any methods of installing Geforce drivers on Quadros.
I dont think anyone bothered (havent checked tho) to make a softmod for it, since it seems totally unecessary when the Quadro runs the games equally well (it seems).
They are similar enough, Quadro does only enable certain other functions like you said, that are used in Pro 3d and not games, but it doesnt seem to lack any features Geforces have for gaming.
Such as HW accelerated Clipping planes, HW accelerated Wireframe AA, 2 sided lighting, HW accelerated overlay planes, and other things useless for games, but useful in viewport rendering.
