I'm skeptical it will be faster, hence the lack of msrp's...

If it does turn out to be faster than the 7970, that will be some feat. Mostly because the rumors say that this isn't the high end Kepler.

I expect a 685 and 8970 on the horizon tbh.

Means that the keplers will not give me 40-50% increase I was looking for from my 580 GTX!

I guess i have to wait for the GK110! *sigh*

From what I've seen so far I would hold onto what you have. The official reviews may tell a different story, though. We'll see.

Buy something with more than enough memory and forget about crossfire/SLI and I'm sure you'll be happy.

Hardly, not with how they are performing ATM.

If GK104 is the in fact the new high end part and its only there or thereabouts re the 7970, that will have been quite a case of foot in mouth for Nvidia.
I've already told you it's not. GK110 is still on the way and I've also heard about a dual GK104 card.

How much of a wait?A couple of months?June? August? Why not wait for the AMD 8xxx series coming late 2012 then?
The waiting game is one you cannot win IMHO.
I think this time around the major card in the game will be pricing.If the GTX 680 ends up around 7970 performance or 10% faster even, at the same price is was not worth the wait.If it come 100 or 150$ cheaper thats another story and probably my next card.

Kyle from [H] got the fact wrong that GTX 680 will be slower than Radeon HD 7970 in 3DMark 11. I think Kyle later soon will finish upcoming GTX 680 review got the impression that GTX 680 is faster than Radeon HD 7970 and will switch to GTX 680 from Radeon HD 7970.

PHK got the first benchmark numbers in for 3DMark11 confirmed GTX 680 will be faster than Radeon HD 7970.

680-> X3200~3300
(7970)-> X2700~2800
670Ti -> X2500~2600
(7950) -> X2200~2300

PHK also mentioned that GTX 680 has max TDP 195W and fan will have low noise.

If GTX 680 will have much lower temp and quiet or nearly silent fan than GTX 470/480/570/580 then I probably will buy GTX 680 over GTX 670Ti. :)

If that's for real, its impressive for a mid range card.

Yes and we probably could see some early reviews at weekend who are not signed NDA.

The same site posted the first pic of GTX 670Ti card, the admin played with the card confirmed that GTX 670Ti at reference clock is 5% behind the performance of Radeon HD 7970 and admin flashed the bios update gave GTX 670Ti 40% performance boost over Radeon HD 7970, it used the same 1536 CUDA cores as GTX 680.

Wow very impressive. :D

Why the frown. If the rumors are to be believed, these cards look like they will be pretty good in all departments. Although, we haven't heard anything price wise so far.

because i already bought a 7970.

I WANT TO GO BACK TO THE GREEN TEAM!!!

The 7970 is still a fantastic card. At present, it is the most powerful single GPU card around. I'm sure you won't be disappointed in it. If you really want to go the Nvidia route, wait until Kepler launches and then sell the 7970. You will still get good money for it.

Then why did you buy one with kepler apparently so close?

PCper on GTX680 (http://pcper.com/news/Graphics-Cards/GTX-680-Turbo-Cores-and-Cuda-Cores)

These reports paint the GTX 680 as being about 10% faster than the HD 7970 in certain applications, but in others it is slower. I figure that when reviews are finally released the two cards will have traded blows with each other over who has the fastest graphics card. Let's call it a draw.

I wonder if that is using this new "turbo" mode. It seems like hot clocks may be gone and instead each part of the chip can clock up independently depending on usage.
