PHK managed to OC broke 1.2GHz barrier on GTX 680.

It will need to take Radeon HD 7970 to reach 1.35GHz to match it. Will a 1.2GHz GTX 680 able to run BF3? We shall have to wait and see in upcoming Hardocp review. :)

GTX 680 fan at 100% full speed will be much quieter than Radeon HD 7970, GTX 580 and GTX 480 fans.

PHK tested GTX 680 fan at full speed created less than 50db compared to 60db on Radeon HD 7970 but didnt said which brand it was, AMD reference fan created 70db at full speed when stressed on Furmark.

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fbbs.expreview.com%2Fthread-49894-1-1.html

I checked Anandtech GPU bench to compared my GTX 470 idle 42db and full load 61.2db, at full load 75% fan speed but I found it far too loud when played GTA IV first time as the temp gone up to 98c. Thankfully MSI Afterburner helped solved the temp issue and fan speed lower to 40%, there was one time at very late night I was curiously clicked on reset profile then suddenly the fan speed profile gone 100% full speed and it cant restored the profile or changed it back, I was absolutely freaked out at my GTX 470 fan roared sound like a lion then I panicked pressed power button to shutdown PC, the full speed are really very loud probably at 70db.

It look like Nvidia finally fixed it for Kepler after everybody complainted about Fermi's too hot GPUs, skyhigh power consumption and very loud fans, Nvidia didnt want a repeat of it.

That graph is pretty mooted by the point that they're saying GTX 580 and 7970 have the same power use,

http://images.anandtech.com/graphs/graph5261/43138.png

...when clearly they don't. All we know now is that it has a lower "Nvidia" TDP than a competing parts actual Max TDP. I'm sure it will be lower as it only uses two 6-pins, but it's probably not going to be a lot after putting that misleading slide into context with a real world example.

They're not comparing the actual power usage. It's more of a TDP/Max board power comparison.

I hope it's a fakie...because if nV is talking about tdp....it probably because there isn't much else positive to talk about...

Please note: I want a new gfx card, i will not pay 550 bucks for a 7970 so I need nV to release a killer card that I can buy for less than 500 bucks....or that it drives the prices down on the amd stuff...

And some probably fake slides; at least BF3 (8xaa lol), CODMW3 (same as 7970, yeah sure:D) and 580GTX ROPs count (32, not)..

Overall nothing special, a 7970 rival..

3dmark2011 looks ok but still ~9200P gpu score is nothing WOW about it :D and if they want 550$+ for that nah, pass.. GK110 or AMD Tenerife here i come (lee)

There is much to talk about actually.

New Surround/3D Surround on one card, that can handle 4 monitors in 2D and 3 monitors in 3D.
Boost technology, that overclocks the card on the fly(700MHz-1GHz), while keeping the default power envelope.
Adaptive V-Sync, that automatically turns off, when you're not getting 60fps.
In Surround, it gives an fps boost on the main monitor, while lowering the fps on both sides.
TXAA, new temporal antialiasing, with two levels, that look like 8xMSAA/16xMSAA while the fps hit is comparable to 2x/4xMSAA.
New, more advanced overclocking support, that lets you setup your own power envelope, if I understood it correctly.

And there might be even more stuff coming.

What makes you so sure that adaptive v-sync or that TXAA/FXAA implementation is a Kepler only feature? ^^

It says so in the techpowerup (http://www.techpowerup.com/162504/NVIDIA-s-New-AA-Algo-is-TXAA-Adaptive-V-Sync-and-New-3DVision-Surround-Detailed.html) article :p

FXAA is already available on every card through a registry hack.

How do they plan to implement CUDA with a different architecture and a smaller die? I see the checkbox ticked in the GPU-Z image above, but I'm very skeptical of whether it will be included.

I saw something about dynamic vsync parameters in 290.xx or 295.xx driver branch, some hardcode part - it has 3 types for it,

VSYNCMODE_FLIPINTERVAL2 = 0x32610244,
VSYNCMODE_FLIPINTERVAL3 = 0x71271021,
VSYNCMODE_FLIPINTERVAL4 = 0x13245256,
http://forums.guru3d.com/showpost.php?p=4240554&postcount=243

And it looks very similar to this kepler thingy, if not even better.. Ok it doesnt switch off vsync, but it looks like it will eliminate frame inconsistency when using vsync, no more 59-60-60-60-59-60-60-60-59 drops, pure smooth, well hopefully :D

yeah FXAA will be in nvcpl soon, i prefer SMAA1.2 injector though.. This new TXAA looks good too, but i kinda doubt it will be Kepler only feature its not something special, only post process AA.. But if they bind it to kepler only then they can FFFUUUUUU lol

A few of those features are exactly what i'm looking for in my next upgrade. I would still prefer a 3Gb card though, so i may have to wait for the high end cards to come out.
