It does look like a nice card so far if the perf/watt is true. I'm curious about the AA modes too.

It's nice to be able to discuss gpu's now without tRollo trolling all the threads. :p

wont the gtx 680 support dx 11.1?

I'd hope so. Would be dumb not to have support for it.

I haven't read much about DX11.1, what does it bring to the table

mostly extra optimizations
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh404562%28v=vs.85%29.aspx

Shader tracing and compiler enhancements
Direct3D device sharing
Check support of new Direct3D 11.1 features and formats
Create larger constant buffers than a shader can access
Use logical operations in a render target
Force the sample count to create a rasterizer state
Process video resources with shaders
Change subresources with new copy options
Discard resources and resource views
Support a larger number of UAVs
Bind a subrange of a constant buffer to a shader
Retrieve the subrange of a constant buffer that is bound to a shader
Clear all or part of a resource view
Map SRVs of dynamic buffers with NO_OVERWRITE
Use UAVs at every pipeline stage

I'd hope so. Would be dumb not to have support for it.

yeah agree, but there is a rumor it might be only DX11.0.. Idk could be just some sour joke, like most Kepler leaks xD

Muppet

This maybe a rumor, i'm not sure. It does say that Kepler will support DX11.1

So apparently they're still calling these "CUDA cores", in which case I can't wait to see how they compare to Fermi. Also, looks like these cards could be some good OpenCL performers too. :)

yeah i saw one leak that said GK104 has ~4.3tflops vs ~1.6tflops (stock 580gtx)

That's a lot of powah, 7970 has ~ 3.8tflops.. although one gpu expert said GK104 has "only" 3.25tflops at 1058mhz / 1536cores.

For example that U3E dx11 Samaritan needs at least 2.5tflops maxed..

I wasn't sure how reliable it is. It is hard to know what is and isn't real when it comes to Kepler as Nvidia hasn't released anything yet.

Anyone else going to be at the NVIDIA Geforce event in a couple weeks (by invite only)?

too bad nvidia never had another Nvision event like in '08. I was interning in the area and ended up seeing jakup giving away evga swag haha

RushMore1205 from overclocker somehow got GTX 680 in his system 5 weeks before hard launch.

http://i541.photobucket.com/albums/gg363/rushmore1305/2012-03-15_135626-1.jpg

Of course GTX 680 support surround with 1 card, but his stupid useless iphone autocorrected said GTX 680 will not run surround with 1 card.

He benchmarked Heaven in 5760x1080 with everything maxed got 29fps.

http://www.overclock.net/t/584302/ocn-water-cooling-club-and-picture-gallery/18520

After googled found a single Radeon HD 7970 scored about 21fps with everything maxed in 5760x1080.

http://widescreengamingforum.com/article/amd-radeon-hd-7970-review-heaven-v25-dx11

Also found dual Radeon HD 7970 in crossfire maxed out scored 40fps.

It seemed GTX 680's 192GB are not bandwidth limited in surround resolutions as some are concerned.

v2.5 isn't comparable to v3.0 which I assume he ran. Also, he said he had a special edition of the card, so who knows if its overclocked or what.

I had several rigs on display there . . that was one long event . . .

I remember checking out the rigs but didn't know what you looked like so didn't say hey

haven't seen jakup post in awhile..

I think he is to busy over at the EVGA forums now.

This dynamic clocking looks funky, i sense stutter issues..Hope im wrong, but if a nvidia gpu without dynamic clock has these issues, then it could be really bad with this..

Another member of Overclocker.net lolitsallwrong got hand on GTX 680 days before launch posted 2 pics.

http://i41.tinypic.com/34etiu0.jpg

http://i43.tinypic.com/2am93r.jpg

Latest GPU-Z version 0.6.0 now supported GTX 680 but it seemed Heaven 3.0 cant detected GTX 680 properly but ran fine with all options maxed in windows mode, guess it cant run in full screen properly. Rest assured GTX 680 will support DirectX 11.1. :)

http://www.overclock.net/t/1231113/gigabyte-gtx-680-2gb-already-arrive-at-my-shop/410

lolitsallwrong used new Geforce 300.99 driver that has much better performance than in reviews that used old driver.

I can run them; I didn't say I would. Too many people are going to be all "blah blah i don't believe you they're fake!" I just had to step in here and set the terrifying results from the OP straight. They are bogus. Just wait for launch. It's not far away.

Batman AC: 4x MSAA, 16xAF, Global Settings on very high, PhysX off (to compare to AMD)
112 FPS at 1300/6500 on 1920x1080.

Cheers

Wow he overclocked GTX 680 to 1300MHz core and 6.5GHz memory on stock cooler. :)

http://www.hardwareheaven.com/reviews/1444/pg9/msi-r7970-lightning-enthusiast-overclocked-graphics-card-review-batman-arkham-city.html

MSI Radeon HD 7970 Lighting maxed OC 1265/1505 got 103fps and reference 925/1375 got 94fps but MSI Radeon 7970 Lighting reached the highest OC, it cant go further beyond 1265/1505. Surprised GTX 680 can go beyond that clock with stock cooler, can GTX 680 reach 1.5GHz core clock? :D
