First, my computer dies on me last week (damn motherboard). Then of course it has to be 9/11, a truly dark day as it is. And now I just found out that Farscape is canceled.
A truly dark day and that cancellation happened last week. BAH! Maybe no one else likes the show, but I think its about the best thing on Sci-Fi network (since they canceled Invisible Man, Chronicle, First Wave, and Lexx).
If nobody cares, then sorry for bothering anybody. Getting the word out that those who watch Farscape have seen the last Farscape at the end of this season if Sci-Fi has its way...

I care. Farscape has been one of the best space Sci-Fi's since DS9, Bab5 and Space: Above and Beyond.

I never cared too much for Farscape...seemed to cheesy to me...
Although Babylon5 had to be the best space soap opera EVER, I've seen each episode many times over, and I even liked that spinoff, Crusade...

Howzit guys,
Well oh well, I also heard about the cancellation of Farscape this last weekend and i was very upset about it as i feel that it is one of the best Sci-Fi's out there. Anyway to make it worse they are releasing the last and final "season 4" next year only.....
Apparently they are even going to tear down the props and destroy them, boo hoo, i wish some one would step up to the plate and buy them or even better arrange that it continues....

I really enjoyed The Outer Limits, that was my favorite Sci-Fi show. It got cancelled awhile back too. Makesyou wonder about Sci-Fi channel, why do they cancel all there shows, are they gonna go under? To tell you the truth, with as many good shows they been cancelling, I wouldent really miss them.

Mike

Horrid news, I know. Farscape was a pretty cool series. It beat the crap out of Voyager and Enterprise. Of course, that's not too difficult an accomplishment.
Hopefully Firefly will be a pretty good series. If not, I'll just have to make do with watching ST:TNG re-runs on TNN. Hehe.

What the heck is left? re-runs of Buck Rogers?
The Sci-Fi channel is getting a certain backlash from within their own forums over this. From the Galactica Bboard, to the B5 bboard, to others, there are a lot of less then thrilled viewers who are even proposing requesting that their cable company drop the Sci-Fi channel because... Crossing Over with Jonathan Edwards (more like Falling Asleep...) only adds insult to injury in many people's minds, nor is it possible that they also (in the B5 bboard) cancelled the showing of the last B5 episode, Sleeping in the Light... In the BSG bboard, someone posted a link to the following petition, which started seeing a lot of signatures after the Farscape cacellation was announced
http://www.petitiononline.com/eulogy/petition.html
Course 942 signatures so far are not near sufficient to get too much notice (someone who was working on the inside requested sometime back 10,000 signatures to present them with...different petition)
and the person who created this petition apperently got banned from posting on these bboards (he wasn't the one who posted this link) for what totally appears to be the act of putting this petition up on someone elses network. No, have read posts from the individual in question, and he didn't troll or anything of that sort...

Oh and BTW, the Farscape bboard was down for awhile, which got some people speculating, but it's back up again...

An FYI here. Stargate-SG1 is still showing on network TV, and it has been on Showtime (at least with digital cable). I don't know if Sci-Fi just bought the rights to show older episodes (in which case it can be watched elsewhere) or to the show itself (in which case they could kill future seasons)...

You have gotta be ******* kidding me... That crossing over program is a piece of **** what the **** were they ********* those **** ing ***** piece **** smell ****** you ****** ing ***** with hair all over it.
yes... yes.... I can see someone know.... your mother... she is passed away? "ummm no" ... I feel this connection to your mother... maybe your mother's sister, or mothers brother, or someone close to her... "ummm her cousin, she died recently" ...yes that is who I am sensing ... "oh my gosh, how did you know that?" ... and who is kate? "kate?" ... I am sensing a kate name... or katherine.. or karl... something with a k... or sounds like a k... like a c... a c word... christoper... catherine... "yes, my mom is catherine" ... yes, that is her, kate says she misses her .... "oh my gosh, how did you know my moms name was catherine?"... what is hanging on the wall of her room? ... "the wall?" yes... I am sensing that there is something on the wall that is important... and painting... or a picture... or some sort of photograph... "yes" ... a photograph of her family? "yes!" ... she says she wants you to look after that.. "oh my gosh, how could you know about the photograph in her room... that is so specific, it is creepy... you are so magical and sensitive... I love you John, and I want to have your babies!"
I wish someone would just nerve gas that studio...

BTW, just headed over to Sci-Fi's Babylon 5 bboard, where someone posted about an article concerning Sci-Fi. JMS (creator of Babylon 5) also had some words concerning the Farscape cancellation. It also mentions Sci-Fi channel's handling of what was to be a spin off series to Babylon 5, aka Legend of the Rangers...
Also, towards the end, Farscape's creator is quoted as saying that the rumors behind it being pulled are false, and the blame lies squarely with Sci-Fi channel itself...
There were rumors that a financial backer pulling out was behind the SCI FI Channel's decision to pull the plug. They did even say that "the extreme and growing cost of production" was a factor. However, Farscape creator Rockne S. Obannon, was quite clear in denying such claims, and laid the blame firmly at SCI FI's door. "I'm still reeling from the cancellation, am touched beyond words by the outpouring of love and support from all the fans. Very importantly, I want to make it crystal clear to everyone that despite what Anthony [Simcoe, Ka D'Argo] said, EM-TV is only a tangental player in the demise of Farscape. The Sci-Fi Channel chose not to pick up the series for season 5, period. To say that they want the show is completely false. Please don't let the real story get clouded. Writing letters to EM-TV in German won't hurt, but it shouldn't be the focus of anyone who is moved to protest."

Um.. is Stargate really cancelled, at least the new Sci-Fi episodes? Took me forever to realize Sci-Fi was carrying the show once it disappeared from my local Fox station, and now I'm starting to get back into the show. Kinda sux that they got rid of whazzisname though. At least the new team member taking his place is okay.

Actually, according to the people over at farscapeworld, Sci-Fi went to the expense to outright buy the entire series (Stargate) to enable another season to be made next year. The main star is likely to be a reoccuring character, but the rest of the cast is supposed to be sticking around (or so it says there).
And they are implying that it is because of this purchase that Sci-Fi doesn't have the cash to keep Farscape, too.
Interesting, that, because at one time Sci-Fi was funding Invisible Man, The Chronicle, Farscape, AND Lexx at the same time. Now what are they funding? Only Stargate.
So Sci-Fi seems to be breaking down into the Stargate and Babylon 5 network. As opposed to the Farscape, Stargate, and Babylon 5 network. ;)
Oh, and all those reruns of other assorted sci-fi shows. Sci-Fi network seems to be backing out of funding any new shows. Perhaps they are content to be almost exclusively now a rerun network. ;)
I am sad to see Farscape go, though. Say what you will about it, but its decidedly unique and the cast and makers of the show really feel personal about it. Reminds me of JMS's attachment to his shows. And that kind of commitment to their show is something to be admired; not dealt with in this manner (unlike Rick Berman and that Braga clown's complete and total destruction of the Star Trek license--running it through the mud, any toilet they could find, and the trash heap--which is as sad and boring as Voyager and Enterprise piled together). And I watched both of them. Unique, they ain't.
I hope UPN picks up Farscape, as rumors are saying. Don't have Showtime. I bet Farscape would do well in syndication though, able to draw the fans whereever it is. Might even show Andromeda what real sci-fi syndication is about. Run, Herc, run! Here's... JOOOHNNY!
"Can I get a, 'Hell Yeah!'?"
"HELL YEAH!"
And yes. Crackers DO matter.

Space: Above and Beyond was an amazing show. I loved it. It was a little out there making you believe that a regualr group of marines could use just about any equipment eg: flying space fighters. But it was still great.

Definitely a pretty good show, though I thought the ending was a bit different than I'd have liked. I was hoping to see the end of the war, so we'd know who won / lost or whether peace was finally acheived through both species finally becoming able to communicate.. Still, it seemed to be based more on following the one group of cadets / squadron (platoon?) from their entry into the service through the loss of the unit. The final sacrifices was actually pretty moving, as some died defending others. Much like the real world here on earth during war. :)
